Could changing estrogen levels be part of the thyroid picture?
Estrogen can increase thyroid-binding globulin, or TBG, the protein that carries thyroid hormones in the blood. Changes in TBG can affect how thyroid hormones circulate and may be particularly relevant during pregnancy, perimenopause, hormonal contraception, or estrogen therapy.
That is why thyroid symptoms and hormone changes sometimes need to be evaluated together rather than looking at one system in isolation.
In this video, Dr. Jen explains the estrogen and thyroid connection and why a broader evaluation may include thyroid labs, hormone balance, nutrition, gut health, liver function, stress, and lifestyle factors.🌿✨
