All smiles for the “cage!” 😁 The cage, aka The Universal Exercise Unit (UEU) is a versatile piece of equipment made up of adjustable straps, pulleys, and support bars that can be customized for each child’s needs. In occupational therapy, we use it to:

✨ Build core and postural strength through suspended positions
✨ Improve body awareness and motor planning
✨ Provide proprioceptive input (heavy work that many kids crave!)
✨ Support balance and coordination challenges in a fun, engaging way
✨ Grade activities up or down depending on a child’s skill level

The UEU can be used for kids working on anything from basic postural control to more advanced coordination and strength goals, all while making therapy feel like play! 🛝
