At Shenandoah Community Health Clinic (SCHC), as many as 10% of scheduled appointments are missed each month during the summer, without notice. While that may not sound like much, it adds up quickly.
Every missed appointment is time that was set aside for a patient who needed care. It may be a medical follow-up, a counseling session, or dental treatment. When those appointments are missed, care is delayed not only for that patient, but also for others who may be waiting to get in.
For a community clinic, the impact goes beyond scheduling. Our providers and staff are here, exam rooms are ready, and resources have already been committed to that appointment. When patients do not show up, those costs remain while the opportunity to provide care is lost.
Many people don't realize that missed appointments can make it harder for clinics like ours to continue expanding services, adding providers, and keeping care affordable for everyone who needs it.
We understand that life happens. Cars break down. Children get sick. Work schedules change. If you can't make your appointment, we simply ask that you give us a call as soon as possible. That allows us to offer your appointment to someone else in the community who may be waiting for care.
A simple phone call can make a big difference.
