💙 Every Beat Counts! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to the Shenandoah Community Foundation for supporting Shenandoah Community Health Clinic and helping us launch our “Every Beat Counts” program!

Through this support, we will be able to strengthen preventive and chronic disease care for the more than 700 neighbors, friends, and family members we support each year. Every Beat Counts will help our patients better understand and manage their health, identify concerns earlier, and stay connected to the care they need.

We are incredibly grateful to the Shenandoah Community Foundation for investing in the health of our community and helping us make sure that cost or insurance status does not stand in the way of a healthier future.

We're proud to announce that the Shenandoah Community Foundation has awarded $65,000 in Community Grants to 28 organizations serving Shenandoah County during the 2026 grant cycle.

These grants support a wide range of programs and services that strengthen our community and improve quality of life for those who live, work, and visit Shenandoah County.

Coming in 2027: Some Medicaid Expansion members will renew their coverage every 6 months instead of every 12 months.

This change applies only to Medicaid Expansion adults ages 19–64.

No action is needed right now. Advocates can help members prepare by reinforcing updated contact information and awareness of renewal timelines. These steps can help eligible members receive important notices and avoid unnecessary
gaps in coverage.

How Federal Law is Changing Medicaid Coverage in 2027?

What’s Changing?
Beginning January 1, 2027, a new federal law is changing Medicaid for some Virginians by adding:
• A new Medicaid work requirement for some members to keep their coverage
• More frequent eligibility renewals every 6 months instead of 12 months

What Steps Can Someone Take Today?
Keep your contact information up to date, including your address, email or phone number, and keep an eye out for important notifications from Virginia Medicaid.
