ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is an evidence-based intervention for children with autism. At Hearts and Hands, it's more than a standalone service. It's a bridge that connects our entire collaborative care team.

Here's how it works:

🗣️ Speech Therapy Our SLPs work hand-in-hand with each child's ABA team, using consistent techniques, strategies, and tools across sessions so communication skills carry over and generalize in every setting using the same methods.

🍽️ Occupational Therapy Our OTs guide strategies for daily living skills and sensory processing, like feeding themselves independently at lunchtime, manipulating fasteners, and tolerating sensory input in their environment. We make sure sensory breaks are built into their day and their team is trained in necessary techniques.

🚶 Physical Therapy Our PTs help ABA clients build the strength and confidence to navigate hallways and their environment safely.

Together, these services create a truly integrated approach because progress happens best when every therapist is working from the same playbook.

It’s one of the most important ways children learn!

A new school year brings exciting opportunities. 🍎

And, for many children, it also brings new routines, expectations, and transitions.

Here are a few ways you can help set your child up for success:
�✅ Establish a consistent morning and bedtime routine.
�✅ Practice following a visual schedule.�
✅ Talk about what to expect on the first day.�
✅ Visit the school or classroom if possible.�
✅ Celebrate small wins and encourage flexibility.

Remember, every child adjusts at their own pace. With preparation, consistency, and positive reinforcement, you can help make the transition back to school a successful one.
