The Clark University Center for Counseling and Personal Growth is currently looking for new members to join the CPG Student Advisory Board!

Did you know that 1 in 4 students live with a mental illness? Do you want to become involved in making a difference at Clark? Are you passionate about helping others, decreasing stigma, and raising awareness about mental health? The Student Advisory Board is the perfect place for you! The Student Advisory Board was formed in the Fall 2018 semester to address the mental health and wellbeing of students on campus. Our main goal is to help reach and represent the voice of all Clark students when it comes to the mental health of our diverse student community. The board consists of students from each class who work to advocate for issues pertaining to mental health and mental health services/resources on Clark’s campus. Members inform the work of CPG by providing student observations, suggestions, and insights related to mental wellness at Clark. Join the CPG Student Advisory Board to help reach, advocate, and represent the voice of all Clark students!

Members of the Student Advisory Board are expected to attend weekly meetings and/or sub-committee meetings to actively participate in the creation and maintenance of a healthy and supportive campus community. For the Spring 2022 semester, the Student Advisory Board will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00pm. Apply now if you want to make a difference! The deadline to apply is February 7th! Link in bio!!

If you have any questions about the Student Advisory Board, please contact the director of CPG at [email protected], or the co-leads of the board at [email protected] and [email protected].

Feel stressed? Of course you do! You’re a student! No matter how busy we are, it is still vitally important to think about our mental and emotional wellbeing. That’s why CPG has created series of 4 drop-in workshops, focused on topics that impact students most. Workshops will run ‪from 2-3 pm‬ in the Jefferson Academic Center – room 222. Feel free to attend just one, or attend them all!
Topics and dates will be:

‪February 19th “PANIC! Wait… let’s not.” – Sometimes the worst thing we can do is impulsively react when our emotions are super high. This workshop focuses on how we can prevent making stressful situations even worse by using strategies that can bring our emotions down and help us accept the reality of what’s going on.‬

‪March 18th “Emotional Cucumbers: Keeping Your Cool” – We all have emotions, but what on Earth are they and why do we have them? Better yet, how can we prevent ourselves from getting on the emotional roller coaster over and over? This workshop focuses on reading our emotions, problem solving situations, and gearing up our bodies and minds for stability in the long run.‬

‪April 1st “You, Me and Some Solid Boundaries” – Relationships are tough, this workshop focuses on how we can maintain relationships and friendships, while also asking for what we need and maintaining our own self-respect.‬

‪April 15th “Spring Cleaning: Declutter Your Mind” – There’s so much going on around us and it makes our minds buzz like bees! In this workshop, you’ll learn the benefits of attention and how to mindfully harness the power of your focus.‬

If you have any questions regarding these workshops, please feel free to reach out to Sarah-Eve at [email protected].
