The FDA changed the HRT warning. That does not make every HRT decision the same. HRT decisions still call for an individual conversation with your provider and pharmacy. 🩺

Not every compounding pharmacy is safe. And in 2026, the difference between the good ones and the bad ones has never mattered more.

This year brought a wave of new federal scrutiny. The FDA issued 25 warning letters to telehealth companies the week of June 15, 2026, following an earlier batch of 30 in March. The gap between careful, licensed pharmacies and random websites is widening fast.

Here's the thing: you're allowed to ask questions. Five of them, specifically.

1. Are they licensed and following USP standards? USP and are the national rules for how compounded medicine is made, and more states are enforcing the updated versions in 2026.

2. Do they batch-test what they make? A legitimate pharmacy verifies potency, purity, and sterility. Remember, compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and don't go through premarket review.

3. Is there a real prescriber behind it? Compounding exists to fill a specific clinical need a commercial product can't meet, not to sell copies to anyone who clicks buy.

4. Can they explain your dose and why? One-size-fits-all is a red flag.

5. Will a pharmacist actually talk to you? If you can't reach a human, that's your answer.

A pharmacy worth trusting will welcome every one of these questions.

Drug shortages don't just affect hospitals. They hit derm patients constantly — discontinued topicals, backordered formulations, scripts that just never get filled.

Compounding exists specifically for this. If your dermatology prescription has been sitting in limbo, there may be a better option your regular pharmacy isn't offering you.

The medication is one piece. What you do alongside it — nutrition, training, supplementation — determines whether the weight you lose stays off.

Most patients aren't getting this conversation from their prescriber. They should be.

Most men in fertility workups never get a thorough medication review. A pharmacist should be part of that conversation. Here’s why.

The active ingredient is only part of what's in your prescription. The inactive ingredients — fillers, dyes, preservatives — are in there too, and they can cause real problems for certain patients.

Compounding lets you strip those out and build what you actually need. Most people don't know this is an option.
