👋 Please join us in welcoming Haley Sutton, PA-C, to Chestnut Hill Allergy & Asthma Associates!

🎓 Haley earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Penn State University.

🩺 Prior to joining CHAAA, she spent several years practicing in emergency medicine and urgent care and was honored as Mount Sinai/Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Department Physician Assistant of the Year in 2022. 🏆

🥼Haley is passionate about providing compassionate, individualized care and helping patients and families better understand and manage their allergies and asthma.

🏙️ Outside of medicine, she lives in Philadelphia with her husband, enjoys spending time at the Delaware beaches, and remains a devoted fan of Baltimore sports teams.

👩‍⚕️ She is excited to serve patients in Wyndmoor and Center City and looks forward to becoming part of the CHAAA community.

🌸Welcome Spring🌸

🚨 but watch out for all that tree pollen!!

To best enjoy this beautiful weather, make sure you’re taking all your allergy medications daily!!

Oral antihistamines, nasal sprays, and antihistamine eye drops can help you manage your allergy symptoms!

For long term treatment of your allergies- ask us about allergen immunotherapy aka allergy shots!

The following precautions are also just as important in keeping your allergy symptoms at bay:
- Stay indoors when tree pollen peaks in the early morning or on windy days when pollen levels tend to be higher.
- Wear eye protection when outside, especially when biking.
- Keep windows closed in the home and when driving.
- Remove and wash clothes you’ve worn outside.
- Shower to rinse pollen from your skin and hair.
- Wipe off pets when they come in from being outside.

"Dr. Manav Segal of Chestnut Hill Allergy and Asthma Associates says this time of year is among the busiest for allergy specialists.
"It's already the height of spring allergy season.
It's just the beginning of April but for our patients, symptoms started weeks ago," he said.
While the season itself can't be avoided, Segal said the time of day can influence how severe symptoms feel.
"Pollen counts are tend to be highest in the morning. So if you save the activities for later in the day, you can avoid the peak of pollen levels," he said.
He also recommended simple steps to reduce exposure, including washing hands and face after being outdoors, changing into clean clothing and wearing sunglasses to help keep pollen out of the eyes.
Weather plays a role as well. "On rainy days, pollen counts come down, but the next day you have a burst of pollen," Segal said."

Tree pollen season is underway and already blending into grass pollen season, leaving many people dealing with itchy eyes, sneezing and other familiar spring allergy symptoms.
