Typically, preparation of semen for freezing requires that it be centrifuged to concentrate the s***m and reduce the overall volume, allowing addition of freezing extender. Although the centrifugation extender is mostly removed prior to that addition, the s***m are exposed to the centrifugation extender for a varying amount of time depending upon the protocol being used.
This week's "Snippet" from the 8th International Symposium on Stallion Reproduction reviews the effects of different extender ingredients on the freezing outcomes.
