DOVER-William Harvey Gore, age 83 of Dover, passed away June 3, 2026, at Bayhealth Kent Campus.

Born February 18, 1943, in Cambridge, Maryland, to the late Robert Gore, Sr. and Louise (Layton) Gore, Harvey grew up in the small town of Linkwood, Maryland, attended Academy Elementary School and Middle School and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1961. He played baseball and basketball in Jr. and High School.

He was baptized at Salem Methodist Church, Salem, Maryland in 1953 and attended Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Maryland after his marriage to Phyllis. He later transferred his membership and joined Wyoming United Methodist Church, where he was active as an usher.

Harvey served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. After service, he worked at EI DuPont in Seaford, Delaware from 1965-1970. He started work with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company on April 27, 1970, as an agent for P. Wyane Todd. In 1984, he was promoted to Staff Manager in Salisbury, Maryland. In 1989 he was promoted to District Manager in Dover, Delaware. He retired on December 31, 2000.

Harvey enjoyed spending time with his late wife Phyllis, working in the yard, birdwatching, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins & Vikings. He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren. Harvey also served as an usher, worked at the food pantry and was security watch at Wyoming United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by the love of his life, Phyllis (Marshall) Gore.

Harvey leaves behind two sons, Steven H. Gore and his wife Stephanie of Delaware and William Brian Gore of New Jersey; Grandchildren, Nathan H. Gore, Trever S. Gore and Leyna G. Gore; Brother Ronald H. Gore of New Market, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.

DOVER-It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Alex D. Cropper, who departed this life on May 18, 2026, at the age of 48.

Born on January 31, 1978, Alex was a lifelong resident of Dover, Delaware, whose presence brought light, laughter, and love to everyone fortunate enough to know him. Alex was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, veteran, counselor, mentor, and friend. He lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and dedication to others.

Alex proudly served his country as a military veteran for 10 years. Following his military service, he devoted his professional life to helping others as a substance abuse and mental health counselor. His passion was improving the lives of those facing difficult circumstances, and he tirelessly worked within outreach programs, substance abuse services, mental health initiatives, and homeless assistance programs to ensure that people received the support, guidance, and resources they needed. Helping others was not simply his profession—it was his calling.

Outside of his work, Alex found joy in coaching basketball and football, traveling on vacations, and spending quality time with those he loved most. He had an infectious spirit and was known for his bright smile, outgoing personality, and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether he was dancing, singing, telling jokes, or creating unforgettable memories with family and friends, there was never a dull moment when Alex was around. He was a true family man who cherished every opportunity to bring his loved ones together.

Alex leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved children, Miniya Cropper and Avery Cropper; his cherished stepsons, whom he loved and raised as his own, Roger Jones, Detione Jones, and Jason Brittingham; and his treasured grandkids, Julian, Gianna, Nora, King, Noriko, DJ, Corey, Kalila, Kaceyn, Honesty & Zamauri.

He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Barbara Satchell; his aunts, Denise Roberts, Lillie Sample, Cordoria Cropper, and Alesia Crippen; his uncle, Calvin Cropper, along with a host of relatives, friends, colleagues, and community members whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Euchithea "Shay" Cropper, his grandmother, Alice Cropper, his grandfather, Albert Lee Cropper, his cousin, LaTia "Khandi" Cropper; and his little cousin, DeJour Crippen.

Alex also leaves behind Katiya Cropper, with whom he shared 15 years of marriage and partnership. Together they built a family, created countless memories, and laid a foundation of love and support that remained an important part of his life's story.

Though Alex's physical presence is no longer with us, the impact of his love, laughter, guidance, and selfless service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy is reflected in every life he helped, every lesson he taught, and every memory he created.

Service will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Transformation Church, 614 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, Delaware.

Burial will be private.

MILLSBORO-Michael (Mike) Peters passed away on May 9, 2026 surrounded by his family at the Delaware Hospice facility in Milford.

He was born on November 1, 1965 in NYC. He was raised in Rockland County NY and graduated from Nyack Sr High School in 1983.

Michael was a loving family man, a devoted husband to his wife, Cynthia and father to their children, Thomas, Michael, Jessica and Jennifer. He enjoyed military history, building model ships, and film photography. Michael was a happy, outgoing soul with a love of travel and adventure, instilling those qualities into his children.

After graduating with his Masters in Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, he dedicated his life to educating the children of Rockland County, NY, and then Sussex County, Delaware.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances, and father, William, and is survived by his wife, children and his siblings, Richard, Christine and William.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 8, 2026, at Conley's United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyn's Way, Lewes, Delaware for family and friends.

DOVER-Darry J. Buckle, "Ducky", 61 years old, passed away at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford De on May 31, 2026. Darry was born in Easton Maryland on November 27, 1964.

He was preceded by his mother, Ethel Irwin, his father, Theodore Buckle, brother, Gene Buckle and sister Joy Buckle.

He received his GED and joined the Marines in 1981. When he was discharged, he went on in the Air Force National Guards until 2007. He was a proud Marine. Darry was always there for everyone. It didn’t matter the time or day, if you needed help, he was the first one there. He had a sarcastic humor, never met a stranger, and loved to laugh. His family was his pride and joy whom he loved with his whole heart. Always remember him with a smile on his face and laughing.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Parsons), daughter, Stacy Thompson & David, sister, Donna Noble & Mike, sister, Pasty Taylor, brother-In-law, Ray Parsons; sister In-law, Sue Davis and Donny; nephews, Ronnie Cahall and Michelle, Eric Buckle and Courtney, Nieces, Amber McNeil, Tiffani McNeil, and Riley Pope and Kyle, grandsons, Vincent Thompson and David Thompson Jr., bonus daughters, Dorothy Lee, Alison Jusino and Janet Satchell, best friends, Michael DiLorenzo, William Cook and Phil Hayes, and bonus sister In Law, Pamela Benton.

Darry loved to make people laugh. He had so many funny quotes but too many to list. He had a love of Thrasher Fries and Seafood.

For the services, please wear jeans, t-shirts or just casual clothing. Darry only wore a suit on a couple of occasions so please no suit or ties unless you want too.

Service will be 12 noon on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.

CAMDEN-Linda Joyce Edwards passed away suddenly on May 18, 2026, at the age of 86.

Linda was born on March 27, 1940 in Camden, New Jersey, to Karl and Dorothy Klabe. She attended Glassboro State College and began her career as an English teacher, teaching for two years at Linwood School in New Jersey.

On July 2, 1966, Linda married the love of her life, Jeffrey Lynn Edwards. In 1972, they moved to Delaware with their two children, Scott and Julie Edwards, where they built a life together. Soon after moving to Delaware, Linda began working at the Dover Public Library. Over the course of her long and meaningful career, she became the Head of Circulation and remained with the library until her retirement in 2008. Linda was known for her strong work ethic, intelligence, and love of books and learning.

Linda and Jeff shared a life long marriage until his passing on May 11, 2024. Throughout her lifetime, Linda enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and collecting jewelry. Her all-time favorite food was ice cream. She was also deeply involved in politics and often writing letters to politicians about causes important to her.

While Linda dearly loved her family, the true love of her life was her beloved cat, Oliver, who remains with Julie and is still going strong at 18 1/2 years old.

Linda is survived by her children, Scott and Julie Edwards; her sisters, Susie Kujawa and Elaine Carnie; and her cherished cat, Oliver.

A graveside service will be held at Sharon Hills Memorial Park on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. 2928 Sharon Hills Rd. Dover, Delaware 19904.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests funeral and memorial contributions. There will be a drop box at the service for cards, cash and checks. DOVER-Elwood Wilson Lord, 76, of Dover, DE, passed away on May 30, 2026 at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, DE after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born on 12/18/1949 in Lewes, DE, He was the child of Roland Hughes Sr. and Grace Beebe Hughes. Elwood graduated from Harrington High School and went on to serve 30 years as a Sargent Major in the US Army and the National Guard, and finally retired from the State of DE after serving 30 years in the Department of Corrections and a Maintenance Foreman.
He will be deeply remembered for his honesty and constantly willingness to help others. Elwood had a passion for hunting and fishing and spent 55 wonderful years married to Beverly Lord.
He is survived by Beverly and their son Justin Lord and his daughter Victoria Wetherbee with her husband Jeremy Wetherbee and their two children Graham and Emmett. He is also survived by his brothers, George Hughes, Roland Hughes Jr., Rubin Hughes, Charles Hughes, and Dennis (Mikey) Hughes, and his sister Mary Ann Branham. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Charlene Warner.
He was predeceased by his father and mother Roland Hughes Sr. and Grace Hughes, and his brothers Ronald Hughes, David Hughes, and Kenneth Hughes, and his sisters Patricia Ann Roberts and Joanne Layton. He is predeceased by his adoptive parents Robert and Sally Lord.
A celebration of life will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave, Wyoming, DE 19934. Friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate Elwood’s life beginning at 3:00 p.m.

SMYRNA-Donald Lee Marvel, age 88, of Smyrna, DE died peacefully at home with family on May 17, 2026.

He was born in Ridgley, MD and grew up in Mud Mill and Camden Wyoming, DE, later moving to north Wilmington to work as a CPA for Price Waterhouse and DuPont and eventually relocating to Smyrna in 2021.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Oechsler Marvel, his sister Janet Bishop, his brothers Henry and John, and his parents Henry David and Gladys Jane (Medford) Marvel. He is survived by his son Don Neal Marvel and daughter-in-law Elke Pessl.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 1 from 10:00-11:00am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 20 W. Mt. Vernon Street, Smyrna, DE 19977 where a service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

CAMDEN-Cameron ‘Cam’ Allen Maas, 73, of Camden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 21, 2026.

Cam worked for the State of Delaware as a para-transit driver until taking early retirement to pursue his musical career. A lifelong musician, he performed with many local bands as a singer/songwriter and lead guitarist. He also traveled throughout the country as a studio guitarist, playing on tours and sharing his passion for music with countless audiences.

Cameron was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Roy F. Maas and Daphne Ann Maas of Camden, and by his best friend, Grover Alexander Hall Jr. of Willow Grove.

He is survived by his son, Cameron Allen Maas Jr. of Little Creek; Cameron Jr.’s mother and caregiver, Gale E. Maas of Dover; his sister, Pamela Magee of Dover; his niece, Dawn Miller, along with her family, of Magnolia; as well as many lifelong friends, fellow musicians, and all those whose lives were touched by his music and friendship.

His music, laughter, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

WYOMING-Debra Sue Glanden “Debbie” passed away surrounded by her family and friends on May 21, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born to the late John and Jeannette Melvin of Henderson Maryland on January 25, 1962. She graduated from North Caroline High School in 1980, and shortly after graduating she met her husband at the Sandtown dump.

Debbie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated herself fully to her family. She shared 45 years of marriage with her husband Garry Glanden Sr. Together, they raised two children, Garry and Kelly. They created a home filled with love and laughter. She was a wonderful, loving and patient mother. She taught them to be kind, and compassionate. Debbie loved being a mother, but she would say that there is nothing in the world like being a grandmother. Grayson and Maci were the loves of her life.

Debbie was a caregiver by nature and even chose that as a profession, and those who she cared for throughout her life quickly became family. The last 20 years she was employed at Camden Walmart as a front-end cashier where everyone knew her and loved her. Debbie’s vibrant personality and ability to lighten up any room left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She had an effortless quality for drawing people in with her infectious smile and kind heart.

When Debbie was not working, she enjoyed dinners out, shopping, watching her grandchildren’s activities, and spending cherished time with her family and friends. She loved Conway Twitty, classic country music and family cookouts.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents John and Jeannette Melvin, her father-in-law Harry Glanden and brother-in-law Bruce Glanden.

Debbie is survived by her mother-in-law Mable Glanden, husband Garry, son Garry Glanden Jr. (Jenn) of Felton and daughter Kelly Church-Kimmey (Mike) of Harrington, her grandchildren Grayson and Maci. She was also survived by her sister Donna Cubbage (Bill) of Frederica, Linda Legates (Harry) of Marydel, and John Melvin (Kathleen) of Marydel. In addition she is also survived by her sister-in-law Jane Gatts (Darryl) of Felton, brother-in-law Charles Glanden (Terri) of Willow Grove, and brother-in-law Delbert Glanden (Julie Watkins) of Kenton along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing from 6-8 pm on June 1, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue Camden Wyoming DE 19934. The funeral service will be held at 11am on June 2, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue Camden Wyoming DE 19934 where family and friends may call one hour earlier. A public graveside service will be held at Templeville Cemetery in Templeville Md. A celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Debbie’s honor to American Heart Association www.heart.org or USO https://give.uso.org
