I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what my superpower is.
It isn’t intelligence.
It isn’t confidence.
It isn’t that life has somehow spared me from heartbreak, disappointment, grief, or uncertainty.
It’s this…
I’m willing to stay with the hard things.
When life hurts, I don’t spend all of my energy trying to escape the pain.
I trust that the pain has something to teach me.
I trust that I can handle what comes next, even when I have no idea what that will look like.
I’ve learned something that has changed my life:
I don’t trust that life will be easy. I trust who I become when it isn’t.
Every difficult season has asked more of me than I thought I could give.
And every single one has left me stronger, wiser, and more capable than I was before.
Maybe that’s my superpower.
Not that life hasn’t broken me…
It’s that I’ve stopped fearing what breaking open can teach me.
I don’t always have the answers when I step into the maze.
But I trust that if I keep walking, I’ll find my way.
And somewhere along that journey, I’ll meet the next version of myself.
