Good Friday for Earl

It was Good Friday
when Earl let go.
The sky was soft,
the world moved slow.

Ninety-seven years of steady grace,
a gentle soul, a faithful face.
He’d whisper “Mom” with love so deep,
and she’d call him “Dad” before they’d sleep.

Through decades long, they shared one heart—
not even death could pull apart.
He waited, watched, and held on tight,
until he knew she’d be all right.

They’d sit for hours, side by side,
laughing over tacos, eyes open wide
at ice cream cones and stories told—
memories sweet, never old.

No fear in him, just quiet peace,
a final breath, a soft release.
The kind of love that leaves a mark,
even as the world turns dark.

The cross stood tall, the veil was torn,
and somewhere new, Earl was reborn.
He left us gently, hand in hand
with angels waiting where he’d land.

And though we ache, and tears still fall,
we feel him near, we hear his call—
a whisper warm, not really gone,
just loving us from further on.

So light a candle, lift your eyes—
love never fades, and never dies.
