The Center for Thriving Communities at the UNC School of Medicine is facilitating listening engagement sessions in the next two weeks to improve health in NC communities. These sessions are intended for the general public, including agency and community-based organization partners in counties they live, particularly in region 4 (Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake, Warren, and Wilson counties).

The closest session for Caswell County residents happens to be in Yanceyville on Tuesday, Aug 25 at 10am (see details below)

While there are no cases currently in Caswell, it is best practice to always wash produce thoroughly before eating.

North Carolina is now reporting 718 cases and 24 hospitalizations since early May.

A new statewide dashboard is available to keep the public informed with weekly updates. Current interviews show parsley and cilantro are often mentioned, but many people did not eat either, meaning there may be more than one source.

Please continue washing produce thoroughly and cook foods when possible. Contact a health care provider if you are experiencing severe or persistent diarrhea. Staying hydrated is also important.

📢 Notice to Patients
Effective July 1, 2026, the following fees and policies will apply:
Self-Pay Patients
• Laboratory tests sent to LabCorp will be offered at LabCorp’s discounted self-pay rate.
• A $40 handling fee will be applied to all laboratory orders. This fee may be reduced or waived for patients who qualify under the Health Department's Sliding Fee Scale Program.
• To receive the discounted lab rate, all applicable fees must be paid prior to specimen collection.
All Patients
• TB Skin Test and Screening: $25 flat fee
• TB QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Test (including handling fee): $92.00
