The Yellow Springs Dharma Center will host a group discussion of Joanna Macy’s memoir "Widening Circles" over six weeks starting on Thursday, October 1 from 7:30 - 8:45pm. Macy, who died last year at the age of 96, was a scholar and a pioneering peace, justice, and environmental activist whose life and work were profoundly shaped by Buddhist philosophy and practice, deep ecology, and systems theory. Her memoir shows how she used her life experiences to develop a theory and practice for living and thriving in today’s troubled world. The sessions will involve small group discussions and exercises aimed toward encouraging participants to deepen their sense of connection with all life. To register contact: [email protected]

The Yellow Springs Dharma Center invites you to join our 6-week spring "Introduction to Meditation" course held on Wednesday evenings beginning May 20 thru June 17 from 7:30 – 8:45pm. This is an opportunity for both beginners and experienced practitioners to explore mindfulness and the practice of meditation in community. Held at the Dharma Center, 502 Livermore St. in YS, the course is taught by Roshi Katie Egart and the text is "Zen Meditation for Beginners: A Practical Guide to Inner Calm" by Bonnie Myotai Treace.
