ISO: Patio Furniture specifically sturdy tables and chairs (Bistro style etc) for
Friends Care outdoor courtyard. Folding tables could work as well!! 🙂

Have anything like this that you no longer need or use you’d like to donate, lend, or that you’d sell for a low low price?

I am planning a community event series of potlucks here at FCC and need more outdoor seating!

Message us if you have something that may work! 💛💛

What does a vibrant, thriving community look like? It looks a lot like this. 🌸🍃

Take a stroll with us through the outdoor spaces at Friends Care Community. Whether it’s finding mindfulness during a Tai Chi class on the lawn or just enjoying the fresh air, our campus is designed for connection, wellness, and growth.

Speaking of major life transitions... we’re also celebrating Stella! Our Admissions Director’s trusty Chiweenie sidekick is retiring from her daily office duties. Thank you for your years of hard work and endless tail wags, Stella! 🎓🐶

There is so much history here, but even more potential for the future. 🚀

Staff Spotlight: Kent, STNA 🩺✨

To wind down Nurses Week, we want to show our appreciation for our veteran care providers! If you’ve spent any time at Friends Care Center over the last four decades, you know Kent. Since the mid-‘80s, he has been a pillar of our nursing team, bringing a unique, electric energy that lights up every hallway he walks down.
Kent has seen it all—from the days when the “high-tech” gadget on the floor was an iron lung to the modern era of iPads and smartphones. Despite being a self-proclaimed “flip phone guy,” his secret to 40 years of service is simple: bringing a little bit of home and a lot of humor to the day. He’s known for his charisma and the jokes he uses to make residents feel at ease, often being the highlight of their day as he helps them head down to the dining room.
On the residents, Kent says: “They are the reason I’m still here. They’ve taught me more about life than any textbook ever could”. He still carries the wisdom of past residents with him, like the retired nurse who reminded him that work-life balance is everything by asking, “What do you want to do, be the richest man in the graveyard?”. Thank you, Kent, for 40 years of heart, humor, and incredible care! 🧡

Staff Spotlight: Joanie Gifford 💛

Nearly 50 years ago, Joanie Gifford found herself in need of a job. She was a young, new mother living just a block away, navigating life without a car or a driver’s license. When she noticed Friends Care Community being built right down the street, she knew it was meant to be. She walked in for an interview, was hired on the spot, and the rest is history.

Today, as an Activities Aide, Joanie brings that same spark of life to our residents every single day, planning events, sharing laughs, and creating meaningful moments.

What keeps someone dedicated to the same place for half a century? While Joanie jokes that the one-block commute makes snowy days a breeze, the real reason is much deeper. “I’ve stayed just because I’m attached to it,” she shares. “I’m attached to the residents, the building... to everything.”

Thank you, Joanie, for your incredible lifetime of dedication, heart, and history that you bring to our community every single day! 💚✨
