Remember that "project" we teased a few weeks ago?

First Capital EMS is excited to put our new EMS Squad / Rehab / MCI vehicle into service! We have been working on "right-sizing" our fleet and making sure we are providing the best service to our communities and to our other emergency service partners.

This vehicle was designed with more than just EMS in mind. It gives our emergency services partners another tool in the toolbox when incidents get complicated, prolonged, or require something a little different.

It carries:

- BLS/ALS squad equipment
- 12' x 12' rehabilitation tent
- Cooling chairs & misting fans
- Battery-powered light towers
- SMART Triage & Stop The Bleed kits
- Water and rehabilitation supplies
- Expanded MCI equipment coming soon

And its capabilities aren't limited to MCIs or structure fires!

Need a rehab area at a long-duration incident? Need to evacuate people from an area? Working in an area with difficult terrain or limited vehicle access? It may be the right tool for the job.

Our goal is to support the emergency services agencies and communities we serve and help make challenging incidents safer, more efficient, and more manageable.

We're proud to add this capability to our fleet and look forward to putting it to work alongside our fire, EMS, law enforcement, and municipal partners.

**Disclaimer: This project was fully funded by the sale of an ambulance and an SUV, as both vehicles no longer suited the needs of our organization. Remaining funds will be given to our education department to update training equipment. Anything left over will be returned to our General Fund.

Today, we had the honor of attending and participating in this ceremony. Beautifully done and we thank everyone involved for including First Capital EMS in the event.

We then provided standby services for the stair climb, with several employees actively participating in the climb.

We will never forget!

Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will work one-on-one with parents and caregivers to:

- Check your child’s car seat installation
- Make sure the seat is appropriate for your child
- Help identify common installation mistakes
- Answer your questions about car seat and booster seat safety

**Appointments are required and will be scheduled in 30-minute time slots.**

Best of all, there is NO COST for this service and there is no judgement, just help!

So, what does a CPST do? Our technicians provide hands-on demonstrations to help you safely install your child’s car seat in your specific vehicle. They also check for important safety concerns, including recalls, expiration dates, and hidden damage. Finally, they help ensure the seat is properly fitted by checking your child’s weight, height, and harness adjustments.

And this program isn’t just for new parents... it’s for everyone in the family! Here’s CPST O’Connor helping a set of grandparents safely install a car seat.

Remember how we mentioned there are a few projects going on around here? Well, this is another one!

Over the next few weeks, this vehicle will be getting buttoned up, lettered, stocked with equipment, licensed, and ready to hit the road.

We can't wait to show you what it looks like and, more importantly, how we're going to be using it to support our operations and the communities we serve!

Anybody catch our Community Engagement Unit and crew at National Night Out last night?

From teaching hands-only CPR and giving ambulance tours to answering questions about EMS and providing car seat safety checks, our team had a great time engaging and connecting with the community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We hope you learned something new, and we look forward to seeing you at the next community event!

Over the past several weeks, our Education Committee has been holding ALS Assist and BLS Optional Protocol classes for our EMTs.

These classes give our EMTs a more formal understanding of how they can assist our Paramedics on scene while also providing an opportunity to expand their skillsets. By investing in the education and development of our providers, we ultimately improve patient care for all of the communities we serve.

This is just one of the many projects currently underway at First Capital EMS. Every initiative, every training, and every investment in our people has the same goal... to make our providers better, so we can make our communities healthier.

We are proud of the work our team continues to do every day to grow, learn, and provide the best care possible to our patients.

Today, our York County dispatchers stepped up in a tremendous way for First Capital EMS, Life Team EMS, Hanover Area Fire & Rescue, and, most importantly, the family and friends of AEMT Thomas Hull.

There are few moments in public safety that carry the weight of a "Last Call". It's more than a radio transmission... it's a final tribute to a life dedicated to serving others, and a reminder that while his radio may have gone silent, the impact that he had never will.

To our dispatchers, thank you for handling such a difficult moment with the professionalism, dignity, and compassion it deserved.

Tommy, thank you for your service, your friendship, and the countless lives you touched.

Damn... you will be missed.

Rest easy, Tommy. We'll take it from here.
