We have more diagnostic technology than any generation in history, but less confidence in bedside diagnosis. And the problem is not the tech.

The problem is a volume-driven, private-equity-shaped system that leaves too little time to form clinicians who can hear pathology, localize lesions, examine carefully, and reason from the bedside outward.
It produces clinicians who manage workflows rather than practice medicine.

We need fewer medical executives and more physicians who know how to see, hear, touch, and think.

Bob is my skeletal assistant. He doesn’t say much, and his bedside manner is rather stiff, but he is very familiar with bony anatomy.
