Yorktown EMS would like to take a minute to show our appreciation for Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department. Last night, YVFD along with deputies from DeWitt Co Sheriff’s Dept and DPS worked a crash with a difficult and time consuming extrication. Members of YVFD worked diligently to carefully extricate the patient from the vehicle while we provided medical care. We are continually impressed and grateful for the dedication from the volunteers.

Yorktown has a core set of volunteers who show up every time we call. As volunteers, they receive no compensation for their time whether it’s along side of us at 2am, 4pm at 102 degrees outside while in full gear fighting fires or for all the training hours they put in to prepare for the calls. We know several of the members who were out with us last night had work and family obligations today, yet they still showed up last night and every night (or day). That’s the dedication of a volunteer fire fighter. With that being said- Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department- we appreciate you. Thank you for always being there when we call.

Yesterday, there was a joint training exercise held with members of Yorktown EMS, Nordheim Volunteer Fire Company, and Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department. Topics covered included: patient assessment, pediatric care, mass casualty triage, extrication procedures and how to safely work with electrical vehicles. We appreciate everyone who came to participate.

We would also like to say a big THANK YOU to Bobby’s Auto Body for donating the car that we used for our vehicle drills. Bobby is always willing to help us keep our skills sharp.

On Saturday, August 8th there will be a training exercise conducted at Yorktown EMS. You may see ambulances, fire trucks, lots of people moving around and other emergency operations going on. This is a drill only. If you happen to listen to scanners, you will hear radio traffic that sounds as if there’s an emergency at the clinic. There is not. It is just your local first responders training to be the best we can when the real emergencies happen. Thank you for understanding.

Yorktown ISD is excited to offer FREE breakfast and lunch to all children ages 0–18 throughout the summer!

⏰ Meal Times:
🥣 Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
🍽️ Lunch: 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

All children ages 0–18 are welcome to participate.

22 participants certified in CPR and Stop the Bleed this morning! Thank you to the Yorktown Public Library and the Home School Coop for inviting us to teach these valuable lessons to the kids.
