Luke (and I) owe a debt of gratitude to so many good people for seeing us through the last year. Here are five of them - friends, advocates, and fellow Yorkville moms who truly get what it takes to raise a medically complex child. These ladies pulled me up into their lifeboat when I was drowning, and I am so grateful for each of them. Between IEP meetings, doctors appointments, medical procedures, and careers, we make time to get together at least once a month to decompress just a little.

(Unrelated, but does anyone know of any local rage rooms we could book? It’s on our bucket list for fall…)

Breakfast on the porch today! Luke currently cannot attend school on Tuesdays or Fridays as we seek more nurses to accompany him through the week. We are recruiting for him ourselves and SD115 has posted a position as well. For now, a part-time start to school is okay. But after missing all of preschool, we want him at school as much as possible.

Today is Luke’s hard launch. What started as gross injustice has resulted in a beautiful new beginning for this incredible little boy in his new school district. We are so grateful for the truly dedicated and hard-working people who made today possible. The world is yours now, buddy. 🥹
