Our hearts are heavy alongside our Youngsville and Ascension communities.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young life and the injuries sustained in the recent act of violence at the Mall of Louisiana. As parents, neighbors, and psychiatric providers, we feel the weight of this moment with you. There are no easy words for something so sudden and senseless.

To the students, families, and faculty of Episcopal School of Ascension—and to all those impacted—please know you are not alone. Grief, fear, anger, and confusion are natural responses to an unnatural event. However you are feeling right now is valid.

In times like these, connection matters. Check in on one another. Sit with your kids a little longer. Reach out to someone you trust.

And if this tragedy feels especially heavy, support is available. You don’t have to carry it by yourself.
