✨ Happy FOUR YEAR Work Anniversary, Gurveen! ✨

If you’ve met Gurveen, you’ve probably experienced her warm personality, contagious smile and the way she can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She has such a fun, easygoing spirit that makes everyone around her feel welcome—land we absolutely can’t wait for her grand return after maternity leave! 💕

Since joining the Woods Family Speech Therapy team in 2022, she’s helped countless children find their voice, build confidence and celebrate milestones that once felt out of reach. One of her favorite parts of being an SLP is watching children recognize their own progress and seeing families light up as those new skills carry over into everyday life. That’s the kind of joy she brings to work every single day.

A few fun facts about Gurveen:

☕ Starbucks order: White Mocha or Passion Tea
🍫 Sweet tooth: Sour candy, Reese’s, and Cookie Tree treats

The grocery store is full of opportunities to build language! 🛒💬

Try these five simple ideas during your next shopping trip:

🍎 Ask your child to find something red

🍌 Count the bananas together

🥨 Talk about foods that are crunchy, soft, hot or cold

🔍 Let your child help find items on your list

🥛 Practice requesting and making choices: “Do you want milk or juice?”

No special materials or perfectly planned activity needed. Just a few extra moments of talking, noticing and exploring together 💚

🫧 Why do we LOVE bubbles in speech therapy?

They’re fun. They’re simple. And they create SO many natural opportunities for communication!

A little bubble play can help us work on:
💬 Requesting — “More!” “Bubbles!” “Again!”

👀 Shared attention — noticing, watching and engaging together

🫶 Turn taking — “My turn, your turn!”

👂 Following directions — “Pop it!” “Catch one!” “Blow!”

✨ Expanding language — big bubble, pop bubble, bubbles up, bubbles gone and so much more!

The best part? To a child, we’re just playing with bubbles,🫧 but behind all that popping, chasing and giggling, there are lots of opportunities to practice meaningful communication 💚
