Western culture hates this idea. Most Western people who say they are spiritual/religious are that way so they can try to control their outcomes. Get more money. Have a better marriage. Guarantee their passage into heaven.
In the Eastern tradition You have already selected this life and what's going to happen. Now the challenge is how you live this life. Being the best version of yourself? Or will life challenge you and you become a version of yourself that you are not proud of? The outcomes you already decided before you got here.
For example; How is it that you see evil people become rich in powerful? They were going to be rich in powerful but doing it in a way that harms people in the earth that was their choice, their downfall.
When people get readings from psychics they usually want to hear about the good outcomes they're going to be able to achieve. But a true reading tells you about the trail ahead and then can advise you the best version of you tackling that part of the trail and the worst version.
