City of Yuma Proclaims June 15–22, 2026 as "Steve Jones Week" 🏌️♂️
At the June 2, 2026 City Council Meeting, the Yuma City Council approved a proclamation honoring Yuma native Steve Jones and designating June 15–22, 2026, as "Steve Jones Week" in the City of Yuma.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Steve Jones' remarkable victory at the 1996 U.S. Open Championship, one of the greatest achievements in professional golf and a proud moment for our community.
Raised in Yuma, Steve excelled as a student-athlete before attending the University of Colorado and launching a successful professional golf career. Throughout his career, he earned eight PGA Tour victories, overcame significant challenges through determination and perseverance, and brought national recognition to his hometown.
The proclamation recognizes Steve's outstanding accomplishments, sportsmanship, and the pride he has brought to the City of Yuma. His success continues to inspire athletes and residents of all ages, demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and resilience.
