Our friends, Heather from the Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare System, and Crystal from Cornerstone Caregiving brought a tasty treat to our Friends of the Center yesterday. Since Sunday was National Ice Cream Day, we celebrated just a day later — and it was delicious!
The Oaks provided vanilla ice cream with a choice of root beer or orange soda, making for some refreshing floats and lots of happy smiles.
We truly appreciate our community partners for sweetening the day for our Friends of the Center! 🍨🥤💕

As a nurse and operating director of a home care agency, here’s something I wish more families knew:

The first sign that an older adult needs support is rarely a major event.

It’s usually the small things:
• Missed medications
• Forgetting appointments
• Weight loss
• Increased isolation
• Difficulty managing the household
• “Almost” falls

By the time a crisis happens, these warning signs have often been present for months.

The goal of support services isn’t to take away independence.

The goal is to help older adults maintain their independence safely for as long as possible.

Prevention will always be more powerful than crisis management.
