Think rabid animals always foam at the mouth? Think again!

Rabid animals often just act abnormally — staggering, acting aggressive, having trouble walking, or looking like they’re choking. district4health.org/rabies.

Rabies is preventable if you get medical care soon after exposure, but fatal if left untreated. If you’re bitten or scratched by a wild or stray animal, don’t wait — seek care and contact your local health department.

The Women, Infants & Children nutrition program provides free, healthy food and nutrition education for Georgia families. The program is open to pregnant women, new moms, and caregivers of a child under the age of 5 (that includes dads!) who meet certain income requirements. Got a cut, scrape, or puncture? Don't risk tetanus.

According to CDC, the best protection is staying up to date on your tetanus vaccine and proper wound care — clean the wound, remove dirt, and watch for infection.

You need a booster if:

It's been 10+ years since your last shot for clean, minor wounds
It's been 5+ years for dirty or major wounds
You aren't sure about your vaccine history
