Happy FriYAY!! ☀️

We are excited to welcome Aspen to the JS Therapies team in St. Thomas next week! She joins OTs Allisha, Janessa, and Katie, along with SLPs Aleah and Vernisha -- providing child-led, play-based occupational therapy services in our clinic in the Medical Foundation Building!

Aspen is a new graduate of the OTA program at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina. Having completed her most recent clinical rotation in an outpatient pediatric clinic like ours, she already comes with experience with feeding/oral motor skills, sensory integration, executive function, social skills, reflex integration, and fine/gross/visual motor skills. She will continue learning from the best as she participates in our OT Mentorship Program with Dr. Allisha Enck!

It's been a summer full of students at our St. Thomas clinic - and we have two more this week!! ☀️

Keeley and Abby join us from Creighton University Department of Occupational Therapy for their 1-week Level I OT Fieldwork. They'll be shadowing Allisha, Janessa, and Katie (2 out of our 3 St. Thomas OTs are Creighton alums!) and learning all about how we empower children to reach their potential!

Woo hoo! We are recycling plastic at JS Therapies St. Croix now. Wildly grateful for RePlastic Recycle bringing us a bin to make it easy for our staff and families to drop their rinsed #1, 2, and 5 plastics. If you haven't checked out this organization, please do!!!

They are doing incredible work: on-island re-use of plastics to make useable items and soon creating building materials! They also have a convenient drop off station at Peter's Rest. Please help us take care of our beautiful island! 🏝️💕🌎

Our roadsides in STX are horribly littered with single use plastic bottles - let's all help to preserve paradise. Use less plastic, and recycle what you do use!

Outstanding OT students from top graduate schools + Mentorship from our amazing OTs = Better access to high quality therapy for our Virgin Islands children!!

Students learn our child-led, neurodiversity-affirming treatment approach; our therapists gain experience & confidence with sharing their expert knowledge; children make better progress!!

And a bonus win if our students end up coming to work with us!! Janessa, the supervising OT pictured here, did her fieldwork with us and then became a treasured member of our St. Thomas team!

(Hard to believe baby Luna is 6! We've known her mom, Keila, since the early days with Island Therapy Solutions when we shared a tiny location in Sion Farm in 2011. Blessed to work with Keila and all of her children over the years!)
