A strong reputation isn’t built overnight. It’s earned over time.

Twenty years ago, J. Benton Construction was founded on a legacy that began with Benton Construction Company and a commitment to the Virgin Islands. Building on that foundation, James Benton established J. Benton Construction with a vision for quality, integrity, and lasting partnerships.

The group photo captures one of the earliest moments in our company's journey. What was once a small team has grown into an organization of more than 350 employees.

The Department of Justice Medical Examiners Office in Estate Orange Grove, St. Croix, is moving into its final stages as crews complete key elements across the site.

Current work is focused on exterior finishes, accessibility features, masonry detailing, and site improvements that prepare the facility for long-term operation. These final phases ensure the building is ready to support the important work it was designed to serve.

Public health infrastructure plays a vital role in every community. J. Benton Construction is proud to contribute to projects that strengthen the services and facilities the Virgin Islands depend on today and into the future.

The D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace Redevelopment on St. Croix is approaching another important milestone.

Across the site, crews are completing outdoor gathering spaces, playground installations, accessibility features, landscaping, and final site improvements as we work toward substantial completion of the remaining residential buildings.

These are the details that bring the full community together, and we look forward to sharing the progress as DHJ moves toward completion.

Our revitalization of the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute is drawing near as construction comes to a close. This milestone will mean access to cancer care closer to home—less travel during difficult times, more moments with loved ones, and the comfort of being supported by our community. More than a building, the renewed Institute represents progress, dignity, and hope for all it will soon serve. For our team at J. Benton Construction, this project has been especially meaningful. Every successful project depends on alignment.

Engineers, field crews, subcontractors, specialists, project managers, vendors, and clients all play a role in moving the work forward. Each team brings a different responsibility, but the outcome depends on how well those responsibilities connect.

That kind of coordination does not happen by accident. It requires communication, planning, accountability, and a shared understanding of the goal from start to finish.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised that temporary traffic disruptions and roadway closures are now in effect in the vicinity of the Hamburg America Building Demolition Project in downtown Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. The project is located at the corner of Veterans Drive and Tolbod Gade, across from Vendor’s Plaza.
