Today, Bao Khanh officially “graduated” from braces! 🎓

✍️ Back in November 2023, before starting orthodontic treatment, Bao Khanh described her smile as having “a little too much going on” and hoped that, after braces, she’d feel more confident smiling and look even better in photos.

🧐 WHAT DO HIGH OR LOW TSH LEVELS MEAN?

Many people receive a TSH test result during a routine health check-up or thyroid function evaluation and may wonder: Is a high TSH level dangerous? Does a low TSH level mean I have thyroid disease?
👉 TSH, or thyroid-stimulating hormone, is produced by the pituitary gland to regulate the thyroid gland. A blood TSH test helps assess thyroid function, help identify thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, and monitor treatment response.

1️⃣ When TSH is high – your thyroid may be underactive
A high TSH level often suggests hypothyroidism, which means the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormones. In response, the body produces more TSH to stimulate the thyroid gland to work harder.
Possible symptoms include:
➖ Fatigue and increased sleepiness
➖ Unexplained weight gain
➖ Dry skin, hair loss and constipation
➖ Irregular menstrual periods in women

2️⃣ When TSH is low – your thyroid may be overactive
A low TSH level often suggests hyperthyroidism, which means the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone.
Possible symptoms include:
➖ Rapid heartbeat or heart palpitations
➖ Weight loss despite normal eating habits
➖ Hand tremors and difficulty sleeping
➖ Heat intolerance and excessive sweating

However, an abnormal TSH result does not always mean that you have a serious thyroid disorder.
✨ Doctors may recommend additional tests for a more accurate evaluation, including:
- FT4 and/or T3 blood tests
- Thyroid ultrasound
- Thyroid antibody tests

Thyroid testing may be recommended if you:

Persistent back pain, long-lasting headaches, joint pain that continues year after year… Many people think these are simply problems affecting the bones, joints, nerves, or muscles.

However, chronic pain doesn't only affect the painful area. When pain lasts for a long time, patients may also experience poor sleep, fatigue, anxiety, irritability, and reduced interest in daily activities.
