🩵 Robotic surgery at FV Hospital removes stage 3A lung tumour in female pharmacist

🩵 As a pharmacist herself, Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha (born in 1984, Ho Chi Minh City) was deeply concerned after being diagnosed with stage IIIA lung cancer, with the tumour located in a complex area inside the chest cavity.

🛡 FV HOSPITAL CONTINUES LIVE DEMONSTRATIONS AT HIGCF 2026

🛡 On 14 May, FV Hospital continued hosting live surgery sessions as part of the 6th Ho Chi Minh City International Gastric Cancer Forum (HIGCF 2026).

👨‍⚕️ The day began with a robotic-assisted procedure using the da Vinci Xi system for gastro-oesophageal junction cancer in a 56-year-old patient. The patient had previously experienced severe weight loss and had become almost unable to eat . The surgery was performed by a team consisting of Prof. Koichi Suda, MD, PhD (Vice Director of Fujita Health University Hospital), Assoc.Prof. Masaya Nakauchi, MD, PhD, a specialist in robotic gastric and oesophageal surgery (Fujita Health University). Dr Phan Van Thai, Specialist Level II (FV Hospital), and Dr Nguyen Viet Hai, Specialist Level II (University Medical Centre HCMC).

🛡 The procedure took place in FV’s state-of-the-art operating theatre suite, utilising the latest-generation da Vinci Xi robot. The system enables highly precise minimally invasive procedures, particularly in complex gastrointestinal cancer surgery.

🩺 In addition to the robotic procedure, two other specialised live demonstration cases were performed at FV Hospital:

💠 A laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection was performed for a patient with locally advanced gastric cancer, performed with the participation of Professor Noriyuki Inaki, MD, PhD - a renowned Japanese expert in laparoscopic surgery and post-gastrectomy reconstruction.
💠 Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) for a patient with early-stage gastric lesions. This technique allows early-stage lesions to be removed without the need for major surgery, while preserving as much of the stomach’s structure and function as possible. .
