Heading in for an MRI? Get ready for your scan with these simple safety tips. 🧲
Swipe through for 5 things to know before you walk in. 👉
Before your MRI, the radiology team will ask about your medical conditions, previous surgeries, implants and devices. Answer every question carefully. 🛡️
Never assume an implant is MRI-safe. Our team verifies its compatibility first.
The MRI room uses a powerful magnet, so metal stays outside. ⌚🔑
Watches, jewellery, keys, coins and other metal objects generally need to be removed before you enter. Follow the centre’s instructions on clothing and changing into a gown if needed.
Have a pacemaker, cochlear implant, surgical clip or any other implanted device? ❤️
Inform the team before your scan and share device details if you have them. Some devices are MRI-conditional and need specific safety checks.
Not every MRI needs the same preparation. 📋
Depending on your examination, you may get instructions about food, drink, medicines or contrast material. Follow the instructions given for your specific scan.
Your history helps us guide you safely. 💬
Tell the team if you may be pregnant, have kidney problems when contrast is planned, have allergies, or feel uneasy about enclosed spaces.
