🦶 Athlete’s Foot – It’s More Common Than You Think!
Did you know that athlete’s foot is one of the most common fungal skin infections? It thrives in warm, moist environments such as sweaty shoes, changing rooms and around swimming pools.
👀 Common signs include:
✔️ Itching between the toes
✔️ Red, inflamed skin
✔️ Dry, peeling or flaky skin
✔️ Cracks or splits between the toes
✔️ An unpleasant foot odour
✔️ A burning or stinging sensation
💡 Treatment
The good news is that athlete’s foot is usually very treatable!
✅ Apply an antifungal cream, spray or powder as directed.
✅ Keep your feet clean and dry, especially between the toes.
✅ Change your socks every day (or more often if your feet sweat).
✅ Wear breathable footwear and rotate your shoes to allow them to dry.
✅ Avoid walking barefoot in communal changing rooms or swimming pools.
✅ Wash towels and socks regularly to help prevent reinfection.
⚠️ If left untreated, athlete’s foot can spread to other areas of the foot, to your toenails, or even to other people.
If your symptoms don’t improve after treatment, keep coming back, or you’re unsure whether it’s athlete’s foot, book an appointment for a professional assessment. Early treatment can help prevent more stubborn infections.
