Native Fitness

Native Fitness It’s time to rekindle the strength of our ancestors and break the cycle of diabetes and obesity that we find in much of Indian Country today.

We train Native wellness leaders to build wellness centers and programs their community wants to be part of — helping their people move more, get stronger, and live healthier. If we learned one thing from Covid it is that we as a Native people cannot find ourselves in this position again where we are more vulnerable than the average American due to our health. Despite the grants, the funding being

diverted into our Diabetes centers, fitness centers, along with funded programming it would appear that we are missing the mark! Our wellness facilities cannot be put in a corner with limited hours and say that we have wellness and then with limited use say that it didn’t work. Or in the case of tribes with considerable resources where the trend is to copy what is being done in the private sector larger gyms in terms of set up and yet still experience limited usage. Throughout our travels in Indian Country we have found that the challenge is real! This is not who we were as a people and this is not who we are today. We truly believe at Native Fitness that we can actually make a difference.

How do you make people feel valued the moment they walk through your doors?

That’s one of the things Aspen will be talking about at the Native Fitness Leadership Event.

She’ll be sharing practical customer service insights and the small things that can make a big difference in how people experience your facility.

We’re excited to have her join us in Hawaii. 🧡✨

A wellness facility isn’t just a gym with more equipment.

At Native Fitness, we believe these spaces should serve the entire community from youth discovering new fitness trends to older adults who need safe, accessible ways to stay active.

That means choosing equipment with intention: treadmills, step mills, free weights, recumbent steppers, and options that support different ages, abilities, and goals.

Because building a wellness facility isn’t about filling a room with equipment.

It’s about creating a place where your community can move, get stronger, and build healthier lives at every age.

We’ve normalized diabetes.
We’ve normalized obesity.
We’ve normalized health issues that should never have become “normal.”

And at some point, someone has to be willing to break the barrier.

To challenge what we’ve accepted.
To move differently.
To choose better for themselves and their community.

I challenge you to be that person.

Because when you break the barrier, you don’t just change your own life you make it easier for the people behind you to follow.

Be the one who starts the change.

What barrier are you ready to break? Comment “BREAK THE BARRIER” if you’re ready to be the one who starts the change.

Summer is coming to an end. Don’t let the season pass without choosing to move.

Being intentional with your fitness journey doesn’t mean you have to start with a hike, a bike ride, or some big adventure.

Sometimes, it starts with simply getting to the gym. Taking a walk. Moving your body. Building the consistency that eventually gets you to those bigger experiences.

You don’t have to wait for the perfect time to start.

There are still weeks left in this season. Make them count. Move with intention. Build momentum. And make the rest of this summer yours.

We’re getting pretty pumped about our leadership experience in Oahu this October.

We’ve got an incredible group of speakers joining us. Sam McCracken, Aspen Landeros, Jen Gardner, and Avery Barnes.

Each one brings a different perspective, and I’m really looking forward to the conversations that come from having everyone together in one place.

We’re putting a lot into making this a great few days good people, good conversations, leadership, wellness, and a little time to enjoy Hawaii too.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is a good time to make it happen.
