Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) is a diagnosis that more and more dogs are suffering from. It is caused by a narrowing of the disc space between spinal vertebra.

This can cause pain, gait and movement dysfunction, and paralysis. If a nerve gets pinched in the narrowing, it can cause spasms or inflammation in the organ or body system that nerve is responsible for.

In our allopathic vet system they “maintain” this condition with pain medicine which can cause gut upset. Gabapentin which is a nerve blocker and harsh medicine to the gut. And eventually surgery. This is back surgery. This should always be a last resort.

Most spine issues can be resolved with rest, physically therapy, and alternative therapies like light therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care.

🏇 Case Study: Peter

“Late last year, my warmblood horse, Peter, was diagnosed with uveitis in his left eye. While not great news, it wasn’t a complete surprise since he’d had occasional issues with that eye over the past year.

His initial treatment involved eye medications and pain management for nearly a month before he was comfortable enough to return to work. Around that time, I purchased the EquiSol Torch to use during future flare ups because I already believed in the benefits of red light therapy.

About a month ago, Peter experienced another flare up. We immediately started his treatment protocol and added red light therapy 2–3 times per day. Within two days, his eye was completely clear. The inflammation and haziness were gone. Everyone was surprised because this normally takes much longer to resolve.

To be safe, I continued daily eye meds and RLT treatments for another week. Peter’s eye remains clear, and now I use the EquiSol Torch regularly at the stable in hopes of preventing future episodes.
