What are some of your biggest life mistakes and is there a theme? I’d love to hear.
Midlife for me is a time of throwing off the shackles of expectations of other people, but also being very intentional about listening to my intuition, but then acting on it without any remorse. I used to think that taking care of myself first was selfish. I was also taught early on that bringing attention to myself was also unattractive. This led me to not away, standing up for myself, not promoting myself when I could’ve and even not accepting compliments when they were definitely due. I did this for decades. I guess it took burning out and my business shutting down, leaving me in a place where I could ask the question what the hell went wrong? Now I did a lot of things right however there were so many times where I didn’t take care of myself first I’ve realized this is not selfish at all and I make sure to tell all of my midlife women clients that self-love, self compassion, acting on your own intuition and taking care of oneself first is absolutely necessary. This is the only way that you can truly be of service in the world, live an authentic life and give back to the things and the people that you love.
