Hello Friends,
The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute Invited you to join them as we explore "Awareness & Contact: Phenomenological Practice Across Mindfulness, Gestalt, and Improvisational Methods " Saturday, May 30, 2026 10:00 am-5:00 pm via Zoom in person 110 Boon Hall Warren Wilson College, Asheville, N C. This training examines awareness and contact as foundational processes in Gestalt therapy and related phenomenological traditions. Participants will engage in structured experiential exercises designed to increase therapist capacity for moment-to-moment awareness, sensitivity to the contact boundary, and responsiveness within the therapeutic field. Mindfulness-based noticing practices and improvisational exercises are presented as structured methods for developing clinical awareness and relational presence. Emphasis is placed on translating experiential learning into practical therapeutic interventions.
This training is educational in nature and is not group psychotherapy. The workshop will be facilitated by Jeff Thompson, MA, LCMHC.

Cost is $195.00 including 6 contact hours continuing education credit through NBCC.

The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute is pleased to present "What IS: A Gestalt Seminar, facilitated by Nicholas Emmaniel, MA LCMHC, and Ernest McCoy Ed.S, MSW, LCSW on June 12, 2026, 11:00 am -2:00 pm via the Zoom platform. The workshop is a process of learning to accept your now and that it is the only place you can live. Hello Friends,
The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute Invited you to join them as we explore "Projected Similarities and Differences" Friday, October 17, 2025 10:00 am-1:00 pm via Zoom platform. Through a Gestalt lens, we offer an opportunity for participants to understand and accept their behaviors and/or question their behaviors as it pertains to the human race. In this workshop we will become aware of how we create likes and dislikes of self and others through our learned behaviors. We will also become more aware of our strengths and limitations as we interact with other humans, and how we might improve our therapeutic relationships. The workshop will be facilitated by Nicholas Emmanuel, MA, LCMHC, LMFT and Ernest McCoy,Ed.S, MSW, LCSW.

Cost is $135.00 including 3 contact hours continuing education credit through NBCC.

The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute would invites you to join them as we explore "Acceptance of Self and Others. Friday, April 25, 2025 11:00 am-1:30 pm via Zoom platform. Facilitators for this workshop are Nicholas Emmanuel MA, NCMHC. LMFT and Ernest McCoy, Ed.S. MSW. Explore the details of one's discrimination of self and others We will explore the concepts of self and others and how awareness of behaviors contribute to acceptance and exclusion. We will learn how to foster the possibilities of connection with self and others and to accept the strengths and limitations of self and others.

Greetings Everyone especially those impacted by Helene,

The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute would like to share our sincerest condolences if you have lost loved ones. Each one of you is in our hearts and thoughts during this time of unthinkable loss. Many have experienced the terror of the storm, loss of homes and possessions, income, connection and other things too numerous to count. We are thinking of you and searching for ways to reach out and support you as best we can. We will affirm that you are strong, even if you do not feel it, and we will get through this together.

Everyone associated with the AGTI education and administration is fine. We appreciate those of you who are outside of our area thinking of us and checking in to inquire about our well-being.

We hope you will continue to be well and safe. We will be back in touch.

The Appalachian Gestalt Therapy Institute is pleased to announce our Gestalt Training Professional Training Program, An Exploration into the Heart of Gestalt Therapy and Many Processes of Gestalt Therapy as an Experiential Approach with Nicholas Emmanuel and Ernest McCoy for the 2024-25 year.. The training will be in person. The training through the year will be at the Swannanoa Valley Friends Meeting House in Black Mountain.

The training dates are:
Day long Trainings: November 9, 2024, March 1. 2025 and May 23, 2025 9 am-6 pm per day.

These Trainings may be registered individually or for all three.
Cost:$225 for individual sessions or $599 for all three.
Deadline to Register: Friday, October 25, 2024

Continuing Education available 7 contact hours per day for up to 21 hours for all three days
