Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that none of this work is meant to be done alone.

This past weekend, Lost&Found was honored to be part of the Movement for Mental Health Fun Run/Walk in Mitchell alongside Tegan’s Light and Rooted 23.

Events like this matter because connection matters. Collaboration matters. When organizations, advocates, and community members come together with a shared goal of supporting mental health and su***de prevention, we are able to create a greater impact together than any of us could alone.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to walk, run, connect, share stories, and remind others that they are not alone. ✨

Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the brave service members who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

For many veterans, military families, and loved ones, this day can also carry grief, reflection, and difficult emotions in deeply personal ways.

At Lost&Found, we believe connection, compassion, and checking in on one another matter every day, especially on days that may feel heavier than others.

If support is needed, call or text 988. Veterans can press 1 to connect directly with the Veterans Crisis Line.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

📊 Data or Drama with Cody Ingle, Senior Research & Evaluation Specialist

When we see statistics shared online or in the media, it’s easy to focus on the numbers without asking what they actually mean.

In this episode of Data or Drama, Cody breaks down the difference between a count and a rate and why that distinction matters when talking about su***de data, mental health trends, and comparing information across communities and states.

Understanding the data helps us have more informed conversations, recognize the real impact, and better understand why prevention work matters. 🩵

The World's Only Corn Palace is lit up green for Mental Health Action Day today. 💚

We’re grateful for the opportunity to help shine a light on the importance of mental health, connection, and support in our communities.

Mental Health Action Day is a reminder that awareness matters, but action matters too. Checking in on someone. Starting a conversation. Learning how to support a friend, coworker, student, or family member. Those moments can make a difference.

Thank you to the Corn Palace for partnering with us to recognize this day and help bring visibility to mental health awareness across South Dakota.

Last week, Lost&Found’s Lana Loken joined Rooted 23 and Tegan’s Light at Woonsocket School District to talk with students from Woonsocket and Sanborn Central School District about mental health, support, and the importance of staying connected. 💚

Throughout the morning, students heard personal stories, learned about available resources, and were encouraged to look out for themselves and those around them.

These conversations matter. Creating spaces where young people feel safe talking about mental health and reminding them that support exists can make a lasting impact.

Thank you to Woonsocket School District for hosting us and to everyone who helped make the morning meaningful.

The people closest to someone are often the first to notice when something changes.

A friend who stops showing up.
A roommate who seems quieter than usual.
A teammate carrying more than they’re letting on.

Those moments matter.

At Lost&Found, we’re building momentum by equipping students, schools, workplaces, and communities with the tools to recognize when someone may be struggling and the confidence to respond.

Because one conversation, one check-in, or one person choosing to stay connected can make a difference.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, help us continue this work across our region. 💚
