Stopping your annual skin check half way: you’d be completely baffled. Because a half-done skin check isn’t a skin check at all.

So why are we doing half the job when it comes to our underarms?
Most people treat their underarms purely for odor and sweat protection. But from a dermatological standpoint, underarm skin is still skin. In fact, it’s highly vulnerable skin;
It faces constant friction, shaving, occlusion and sweat on a daily basis, which frequently leads to;
chronic irritation,
a compromised barrier and
eventual post-inflammatory dark marks.

True underarm health requires a two-part blueprint:
🧼 The Protection Side: Managing sweat, wetness and odor.
🛡️ The Care Side: Delivering deep hydration, barrier support and cellular comfort.

That is why the formulation behind NIVEA Derma Control is such a game-changer. It doesn’t stop halfway. It delivers reliable clinical antiperspirant protection while simultaneously infusing the skin with Pure Hyaluron and Pro-Vitamin B5 to actively hydrate, reduce friction-induced inflammation and protect the delicate underarm barrier.

If you wouldn’t accept a half-done job anywhere else in your life, don’t accept it in your daily personal care routine either.

Give your underarms the full dermatological care they deserve. 🧴✨

Dermocosmetics are not “just skincare.”

They sit in the space between cosmetics and medicine, playing an important role in how we manage skin health and support treatment outcomes.

The right dermocosmetic can:
✨ Support and strengthen the skin barrier
✨ Improve tolerance to active treatments
✨ Help manage dryness, irritation, and sensitivity
✨ Complement prescription therapies
✨ Enhance the overall treatment experience through elegant, patient-friendly formulations

But not all products are created equal.

Behind every ingredient list is a formulation story: concentration, stability, delivery systems, tolerability and the evidence supporting its use. Two products may appear similar on the shelf while performing very differently on the skin.

I believe great skin outcomes are rarely achieved by prescriptions alone. They come from thoughtfully combining evidence-based medicine with well-designed adjunctive skincare that supports the skin every step of the way.

Have you had your routine tailored at all levels?

People aren’t usually against sunscreen.
The problem is that many people still think occasional protection is enough.
One beach day.
One hike.
One holiday.
One sports event.
But UV damage is cumulative. It builds quietly over years through incidental daily exposure, driving, walking, school runs, outdoor exercise and “just being outside for a few minutes.”

Melanoma and other skin cancers are not only linked to dramatic sunburns, but to repeated ultraviolet damage over time.
Melanoma Awareness Month is an important reminder that sun protection is not about fear, it’s about consistency.
And just as importantly, it’s about knowing what to look for:
🚨 a mole changing in size, shape or colour
📐 asymmetry
☁️ irregular borders
🌈 multiple colours
🩸 bleeding or crusting
🔎 a lesion that looks different from your other moles

Early detection matters.
SPF is important. But so is skin awareness. ☀️

I’m sounding the alarm….

Did you know 100% of La Roche Posay products are allergy-tested? If even one reaction occurs during testing, the formula is sent back to the labs for a total restart. 🧪

As a dermatologist, I recommend what I trust. La Roche Posay - the first to responder to your skin’s needs, backed by science and a commitment to safety that never compromises.

People think skin checks are only about moles and melanoma.
But the most common skin cancers are actually non-melanoma skin cancers and many don’t look like “moles” at all.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common cancer in humans worldwide, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) continues to rise, especially in sunny countries like South Africa.

These cancers can look like:
• a “pimple” that never heals
• a scab that keeps returning
• a shiny bump
• a rough pink patch
• a sore that bleeds easily
• a crusty spot mistaken for dry skin

And while they’re often less aggressive than melanoma, they can still:
• grow deeply into skin and surrounding tissue
• leave significant scars after removal
• spread in some cases (particularly SCC)
• signal years of cumulative UV damage

Skin checks are not just “mole checks.”
They’re full skin health checks.

Especially if you:
☀️ spend lots of time outdoors
☀️ had frequent sunburns growing up
☀️ have fair skin
☀️ notice changing or non-healing lesions
☀️ have a history of skin cancer
☀️ are immunosuppressed

The lesion people ignore for “just one more summer” is often the one we end up treating later.

Early detection almost always means easier treatment, better cosmetic outcomes and less risk.

Save this and share with a friend that needs a reminder!

Skin speaks in colour.
The question is: are we listening?

Because in skin health, colour is never just aesthetic.
It’s how we describe symptoms, identify damage, and educate patients before problems become visible.

At Skin Alliance, every colour told a different skin story:

🟦 BLUE → barrier + hydration
🟧 ORANGE → UV + pigmentation
🟪 PURPLE → collagen + ageing

Education starts with knowing what your skin is trying to tell you.

Which colours speaks to you?

In the world of dermatology, we prioritize “moist wound healing.”

When you leave a wound open, it dries out, forms a hard crust (scab) and forces new skin cells to dive deep to find moisture, lengthening the healing time and increasing the chance of a permanent mark. By using , you are:

 ✅ Optimizing the healing environment.

 ✅ Improving long-term aesthetic results.

 ✅ Protecting the skin barrier.

Upgrade your first aid and make sure you are healing smart.
