If a phone needs to stay hidden, this is important to know ⬇️

A national test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system is happening on Monday 27 July, with mobile devices across Australia set to receive a test alert.

For some people, especially those experiencing family violence, an unexpected notification on a hidden safety device could put them at risk.

To avoid the alert during the test:

✈️ Turn off your device or switch it to aeroplane mode
📱 Keep it off for at least one hour after the test

If things aren’t feeling safe, you can also find specialist support at:

We’re still buzzing after the Minus18 Q***r Formal, a night all about celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride, connection and self-expression.

Safe and inclusive spaces like this are so important. They give young people the opportunity to be themselves, build friendships and feel a sense of belonging. For some, it’s the first time they've been able to show up exactly as they are and feel truly accepted.

One of our favourite moments was watching our Each Affirmation Wall come to life. By the end of the night, it was covered in colourful messages of kindness and encouragement. A beautiful reminder that when young people are given opportunities to connect, express themselves and feel they belong, amazing things happen 🌈

The museum is even more exciting when you add a dance floor🕺

Last weekend, we took young people from our Manningham Youth Service and Rural Rainbow groups to the Minus18 Q***r Formal at Melbourne Museum.

The Q***r Formal is one of Australia's largest LGBTQIA+ youth events, providing a safe, inclusive and affirming space where young people can connect, celebrate their identity and experience a genuine sense of belonging.

The excitement started on the bus ride there and only grew from the moment we stepped inside. Full of vibrant outfits, amazing performances, and a whole lot of dancing, the museum was bursting with pride and self-expression.

Thank you to Minus18 for having us and for putting on yet another extraordinary event for LGBTQIA+ young people. It was a privilege to be a part of 💜

Did you know Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the oldest continuing Cultures in the world?

There’s always something we can learn from the Traditional Owners of this land, from the way they care for Country to the joy of intergenerational song, dance and storytelling.

That’s what NAIDOC Week is all about: taking time to embrace and celebrate the customs and knowledge they’ve carried for over 65,000 years.

Each year, local NAIDOC Week events are held across Australia, both online and in person. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in Culture and be part of some deadly experiences. Head to the National NAIDOC website to find one near you:

Life can change in a split second.

At 16, Simone was in the back seat of a car without a seatbelt when it crashed.

She suffered a serious brain injury, was placed in a coma, and had to relearn how to speak.

Today, she shares her story with students across Melbourne — speaking about road safety, the importance of wearing a seatbelt, and how small choices on the road can have big consequences.

Simone is an NDIS Support Coordination customer of Each. With the right support, she’s continuing to live life on her terms and make a difference.

Did you know over 500,000 emergency department visits could be avoided if more care was available in the community? That’s why preventative, in-home support is so important.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Community Health First and Eastern Health to our Ferntree Gully site to celebrate the expansion of the Care Pathways for Chronic Disease program.

This initiative helps people with chronic conditions manage their symptoms at home, with a dedicated health professional providing regular check-ins, education, and early care.

It builds on the success of our Health@Home Pathways program, bringing support to people like our customer John.

It was heartening to hear John share how this approach has changed his day-to-day life. With visits from his nurse Louise, he’s supported to monitor his health and understand his condition.

The expansion of the Care Pathways for Chronic Disease program is an exciting step forward for Victoria, supporting 4,500 vulnerable adults and easing pressure on hospitals across the state – so more people can get the care they need, sooner.

Imagine arriving in a new country, struggling to express yourself in a different language, and wondering where you belong in an unfamiliar culture.

This is the reality for many young people who immigrate to Australia. It’s why having someone who’s lived what you’ve lived, who genuinely listens, and who believes in your potential is so important.

Asal, a Multicultural Mental Health Clinician in our headspace team, understands this deeply. An immigrant herself, she has experienced mental health challenges and is passionate about supporting young people on similar journeys to feel safe being themselves 🤍

Starting life in a new country comes with challenges that many never see, including accessing basic healthcare.

As we head into winter, our Refugee Health Program team has been working hard to reduce barriers and support children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) to stay well. Across three busy days, they provided free flu vaccinations to 690 new patients, showing what inclusive care looks like in action.

This does more than protect people from serious illness during the colder months. It also helps them feel safe, supported and truly welcome in Australia.

We’re so proud of everyone involved 👏

‘Spilling the tea’, ‘touching grass, ‘glowing up’. Have you used these terms before? 😆

Staying curious and open to new ideas is one of the best ways to keep our minds active as we age, and sometimes that curiosity leads to unexpected and fun conversations.

At a recent Refresh Your Mind class, participants were thrown into the world of Gen Z slang, discovering how many of these expressions were born online and quickly became part of modern language.

Everyone had a go at matching each phrase to its meaning and then using it in a sentence. A highlight of the session was learning from Shirley what it means to ‘cap that’.
