Have a sore throat?

Could this be strep throat?

Typically the symptoms of strep throat are the following:
-pain on swallowing and constant sore throat
-high fever
-swollen lymph nodes in the neck
-swollen tonsils with whitish pus on tonsils
-no cough

Your sore throat could also be viral including the flu, mononucleosis or Covid related.

If strep throat is not treated it can cause complications, such as kidney damage or rheumatic fever (inflamed joints, rash, heart valve damage).

Also strep throat is VERY contagious through saliva so no more kissing for the full course of antibiotics!

Pink eye… when red became pink!
Viral versus bacterial: when to take antibiotic eye drops

Both viral and bacterial conjunctivitis present in similar ways and often follow a respiratory infection, ear infection or cold. So it’s quite difficult to differentiate between both of them.
Typically bacterial infections affect one eye and then sometimes the second eye becomes infected. There can be gunky (yellow/green) discharge too. Whereas viral infections often affect both eyes and are accompanied by water eyes without yellow/green discharge. Both can make your eyelids swollen.
Wearing contact lenses is a risk factor for getting infected eyes.
Other general symptoms of conjunctivitis are:
-gritty feeling in the eyes
-itchy/burning sensation
-excessive tearing
-pink discoloration
-increased sensitivity to light.

Some viral conjunctivitis need antiviral medicine if it’s due to herpes or varicella. Buy most conjunctivitis are viral and self limiting.

Just to complicate things pink eye can also be allergic or as doctors like to say, atopic. In this case you’ll typically also have other symptoms such as sneezing, an itchy & watery nose as well as itchy & watery eyes.

You read all these articles about Covid 19 and how you have to get vaccinated bla bla but but here we go… literally during one hour of my night shift as a telehospitalist physician covering for two hospitals in the USA here are the patients I had to care for…
#1
22 year old female, with Covid 19 complicated by a pneumothorax (squished lung by unwanted air between the lung and the chest wall that shouldn’t be there) https://www.pulmonologyadvisor.com/home/topics/lung-infection/spontaneous-pneumothorax-may-increase-mortality-risk-in-covid-19/
#2
24 year old female patient with Covid 19, admitted for pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas. In the Intensive care unit struggling for her life. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41575-020-00389-y
#3
64 year old male with Covid 19, now with new onset atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rate) with rapid heart rate https://www.healio.com/news/cardiology/20210304/af-atrial-flutter-in-covid19-may-be-tied-to-inflammation
#4
74 year old female with severe confusion, unsure why her son brought her to the hospital. She took several minutes to answer the question :‘what’s your name?’. Low oxygen levels in the lungs, 80% instead of the normal >97%. Diagnosed with covid 19.
#5
45 year old Covid male, uncomfortable on a Bi-pap breathing machine.

None of these patients have been vaccinated for Covid 19. In fact, none of the admitted Covid patients have been vaccinated…
Last week there definitely weren’t as many admissions to these hospitals with Covid patients.
I can’t bare to think of how devastating it would be if G*d forbid you or your loved one couldn’t access a hospital bed because they were all taken by irresponsible people who believed they wouldn’t get Covid as badly.
It’s your responsibility to choose to not be vaccinated but it’s a choice that affects others and could be life threatening.
it’s not too late!
