I don’t know how all you ladies cope with menopause and night sweats, but I’m fed up of waking up feeling like I’ve been swimming fully clothed and sleeping on towels!
The steroids have definitely done their job and I’m grateful for that, but they have also brought some unwelcome guests along for the ride. Moon face, swelling, fluid retention, a hand affected by lymphoedema, disrupted sleep and a few other surprises I wasn’t expecting.
The good news is I’m now down to 8 steroid tablets a day and slowly tapering off them. Progress is progress.
This morning’s routine involved popping what feels like half a pharmacy’s worth of tablets - steroids, thyroid medication, blood pressure medication, vitamin D, cod liver oil and more. Recovery isn’t always glamorous, but it’s real.
Today is another busy day with all my little ones at
and later I’ll be cooking lamb’s liver for the first time as part of my mission to nourish my body and support my recovery.
One thing cancer has taught me is that healing isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes it’s one tablet, one healthy meal, one walk, one appointment and one day at a time.
If you’re navigating treatment, recovery, menopause or a health challenge of your own, keep going. The small steps count too. 💞
