Today’s ophthalmology practices are busier than ever before. As Baby Boomers age, they are seeking vision care in droves as they reach the time that eye health problems present themselves. The advantage to employing someone who already knows the job, may be having to learn your EMR if it's unfamiliar to them. If an applicant indicates they are experienced, I suggest doing a mock workup to determine any areas that require retraining.

Eyetech's founder, Jane Shuman, spent the day exploring Boston with her granddaughter. They spent hours in downtown Boston for The Great Elephant Migration exhibit. Then, they rode the Swan Boats and visited the "Make Way for Ducklings" storybook sculpture.

This classic children's book is an excellent reminder that life isn't always linear, but it's easier to get your ducks in a row when you have the right support systems. That's what Eyetechs is all about. 🫶

It's been a busy week for Eyetechs!

We spent two days at Modern Eyes on Long Island training great techs on multiple skills. Then, a drive to New Jersey for tech training on glaucoma as they begin to implement Interventional Glaucoma.

Do you have multiple people triaging calls? Get one for each person so they don’t waste time passing it from one to another. The Suggested Triage Guidelines is a spiral-bound set of flow sheets that is meant to be used to train new call center or reception staff to successfully triage the patient calling with a problem.

👁️ Big news in retina care!

A retinal implant called PRIMA has just been approved in Europe to help restore central vision lost to geographic atrophy. The device pairs a tiny chip implanted under the retina with special camera glasses that translate light into signals the brain can interpret — giving patients with previously irreversible vision loss the ability to read, recognize faces, and regain independence.
