In our fast-paced, productivity driven society
rest is not just a luxury —
It’s a skill that needs to be
re-learned.
We’ve been conditioned to feel guilty when we pause.
To feel shame when we’re not producing.
We’ve been conditioned to define our self-worth by how much we do.
And if that feels “normal” to you...
if you feel resistance to these words...
Let me remind you — this conditioning didn’t exist before the Industrial Revolution.
That’s when we were taught to believe that more is better,
that quantity matters more than quality, that stillness equals laziness.
And that’s still how we operate as a society.
No wonder we are more anxious, depressed and sick than we have ever been.
And that’s how we keep going as a society.
No wonder we’re more anxious, depressed, and sick as a society than we’ve ever been.
The thing is:
Rest is not only essential,
it is absolutely necessary.
It is not a luxury.
it’s a must.
Rest is how we restore inner balance.
Rest is how we activate the parasympathetic nervous system —
responsible for healing, regulating, and digesting.
Without rest, your body literally can’t repair.
Like the Earth, we have our own seasons — times of expansion and times of retreat.
Honoring these cycles is a return to our true nature.
