Have you ever wondered why a fire engine sometimes shows up to a medical call? What firefighters do when they're not responding? Who decides dinner at the station? Or maybe you have a completely random question you've always wanted to ask.
We're starting a new series where VIFR staff answer your questions through short videos and posts.
Ask us anything: serious, curious, behind-the-scenes, or just for fun.
Examples:
• Why do multiple responders come to some calls?
• What happens after someone calls 911?
• What do crews do between calls?
• Coffee, tea, or energy drinks?
• Dishwasher pod in the designated holder or tossed straight in?
Submit your question here: https://forms.gle/UsdrWteXgXGBsGkc7
We might feature your question in an upcoming post or video 🔥

Happy National Nurses Week to our Vashon MIH nurses!

It takes a special kind of nurse to choose mobile integrated healthcare with a fire department on an island community. Our nurses meet people where they are, provide compassionate care in homes and in the field, and help connect community members with the support they need every day.

We are incredibly grateful for the knowledge, heart, flexibility, and dedication they bring to Vashon every single shift.

Thank you, Ashley, Katie, and Dan. We appreciate you.

This past weekend, members of our MIH team taught the first Safe Sitter class of 2026, with a full group of motivated students now prepared to babysit safely and confidently.

Last year, 45 babysitters completed this all-day training. Through our Mobile Integrated Health program at Vashon Fire, we’re proud to support education like this that strengthens families, builds confidence, and prevents emergencies before they happen.

This course was led by trained Safe Sitter instructors from our MIH team, including Katie, RN, and Lisa, LICSW.
