As we age, the face loses volume, especially through the lateral cheek and temple. In someone naturally lean, this shows up sooner and more visibly — there was never a surplus there to soften it, so the honest structure of the bone underneath starts to show through: hollows, sharper angles, shadows that weren’t there before.

Dermal filler, used well, isn’t about building a new face — it’s about giving the features their life back. Restoring what’s been lost so you look like yourself again: rested, confident, and a little more you.

I don’t think she’s wrong.

I like how Jameela Jamil challenges creeping societal norms. Her post is pretty clear that she is missing faces that move — the ones that still frown, laugh unevenly, look tired when they’re actually tired. For a lot of women over 40, I agree with her.

Not because movement is sacred and treatment should stop. Because somewhere along the way, “smooth” got confused with “erased.”

Here’s what I actually believe, elbow-deep in this work every day: a wrinkle-relaxing injection, dosed with restraint, doesn’t take your face away. It softens what’s been etched in without your permission — the frown that shows up when you’re not angry, the tired that shows up when you’ve slept fine. It doesn’t stop you from being surprised, annoyed, delighted.

Overtreated is a different thing. Frozen was never the point.

So — I think she’s naming something real: faces that have stopped being allowed to say anything. My job isn’t to erase yours. It’s to make sure it’s still saying what you mean.

Personal reflection, not clinical advice — every face and treatment plan is different. These are my own views, not the profession’s, and none of this replaces an in-person consultation.

“What’s new?” is a question I’m often asked by patients hoping for a sparkly answer about the latest product or trend.

Social media is a hungry animal. It creates pressure to promote every advanced area I treat with injectables—to reassure existing and potential patients that I’m keeping up.

But isn’t it more important that I spend my spare time immersed in anatomy, research and learning from experienced colleagues, so that I can produce better results?

I’ve chosen to niche my practice towards facial sculpting rather than offer the full spectrum of aesthetic medicine. Trends help me understand what drives my patients and how best to guide them—but meaningful learning doesn’t always make for scintillating content or good sales speak.

P.S. Yes, the Nefertiti lift and lip flip are trending. No, they aren’t new—we’ve been using these techniques for well over 10 years.

20 years married today 🤍

Choosing Jono as my life partner has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

When I first started in aesthetic medicine (circa 2009/2010), I used to feel a little sheepish when people asked what I did. After so many years of studying, it somehow didn’t feel like a “noble” enough pursuit.

Jono challenged that. He reminded me that I love this work, that it’s a valid use of my expertise, that I’m good at it—and that I’m allowed to be proud of it. He helped me see that I don’t have to stay stuck in an idea of who I should be.

He still does that… often. I usually find it slightly irritating in the moment 😄 But somehow, it always stretches me into a fuller, freer version of myself.

Here’s to 20 years—and all the growth still to come.

“5 years in menopause may cause up to a 30% decline in collagen”

Key takeaway from Menopause lecture: Patients on HRT often see better results from aesthetic treatments due to declining estrogen's impact on facial ageing.

When considering HRT, make informed decisions with your healthcare provider, based on current research.

Nerd alert 🤓🧠

This is me, very much in my element.

I can’t photograph the cadaver dissection itself, but this moment captures exactly why I love what I do. Anatomy. Layers. How everything fits together… and how it all changes with time and ageing.

Understanding the face isn’t about trends or products — it’s about respecting structure, function, and the science beneath the skin.

Such a privilege to learn in Paris at IMCAS from world-leading anatomists and specialist injectors. Forever a student. Always curious.

Subtle lip balancing with hyaluronic acid filler.
Natural results are not about adding volume — they’re about restoring balance, structure, and hydration.

Every treatment is guided by facial anatomy, proportion, and the biomechanics of movement.

Hyaluronic acid integrates with your own tissue, allowing the lips to look soft, mobile, and you.

Thoughtful technique. Evidence-based products. Results that don’t announce themselves.

Subtle, fresh, and still completely you ✨
In this beautiful before-and-after, I used a very light hyaluronic acid filler to support the skin, paired with a touch of botulinum toxin to soften those smile lines we all earn with time.

The result?
Smoother texture, lifted light-reflection, and a naturally refreshed look — without changing your expression or the way you smile.

Ageing is inevitable… but looking tired doesn’t have to be.

A little science, a little artistry, and treatments tailored gently to your face 🤍

A little refresh can go a long way 🤍

Using just 1ml of hyaluronic acid, these lips and mouth area were gently revitalised— restoring softness, hydration and natural shape while keeping everything beautifully you.

No drastic change. Just a subtle boost of confidence and glow that catches the light in all the right ways ✨
