I came across this beautiful poem about healing, the words being so very true for me, I'm sure it will resonate with others.

Healing is not a gentle journey. It takes strength and courage. Because it's not a straight line from pain to joy. It's a cycle and one that must be repeated time and time again in order to really grow.
As we shed our skin of the past we become exposed to the light of the future, we are raw and the fire burns because everything is new. Those parts of ourselves have never been seen by the sun before, and now they have, nothing will ever be the same...

and that is beautiful.
and that is terrifying.
and that is healing.

Recovery is possible....
Life is not about who you once were, it is about who you are right now and the person you have the potential to become. You have the power within you. You are worthy of having everything good in life.

Addiction is a symptom, an attempt to conceal some sort of pain, you refuse to allow yourself to suffer and keep searching for band aids rather than understand where your injury is and recover. The wound may not be your fault, but the healing is your responsibility. Every single condition in your life can be improved. You need to believe this. Believe in yourself because you are an amazing soul and you are worth recovery.

We cannot in a moment, get rid of habits of a lifetime. At the bottom of everyone's dependency is pain. Discovering the pain and healing is an essential step in ending dependency. Success is the sum of small efforts repeated daily. Recovery is a process and the belief that recovery is possible is the most important step.

Self worth comes from one thing...YOU!!...thinking that you are worthy. Do not let others define who you are. We all have a past, we have all made choices that have not been the best ones, none of us are completely innocent. But each day we get a new opportunity to be better than we were yesterday.
YOU are valuable, not because anybody says so but because you decide to believe it.
Use everything that has happened to you as an opportunity to grow, take the lesson out of everything and move forward, do not let it be an obstacle to stop you from growing. There is no one to impress, live well for you, improve you, because you are worthy. The only limits you have are the limits you believe.
