๐โโ๏ธ Comrades Marathon Recovery: What Your Body Needs After 85km+
Congratulations to everyone taking on the Comrades Marathon this weekend! Whether you're aiming for a PB or crossing the finish line, your body is about to achieve something incredible.
But recovery doesn't start on Mondayโit starts the moment you finish.
After a marathon or ultramarathon, it's common to experience:
โ๏ธ Muscle soreness and stiffness
โ๏ธ Tight hips and calves
โ๏ธ Lower back discomfort
โ๏ธ Reduced mobility
โ๏ธ Fatigue and slower recovery
While rest, hydration, nutrition, and sleep are essential, chiropractic care can also play a valuable role in helping your body recover.
A chiropractic assessment can help identify areas of restricted movement, joint irritation, and muscle tension that may have developed during training or the race itself. Restoring movement to these areas may help improve comfort, mobility, and your return to training.
Recovery is not just about reducing painโit's about helping your body adapt to the demands you've placed on it.
This week, be kind to your body:
๐ง Hydrate well
๐ฅ Prioritise nutrition
๐ด Get plenty of sleep
๐ถ Keep moving gently
๐ Don't ignore aches that aren't improving
Good luck to all the Comrades runners. You've put in the workโnow give your body the recovery it deserves.
