Good evening, everyone!
Recently, my mother and I started incorporating chia seeds into our meals because of their many enticing benefits. Simply adding them to water and allowing them to swell does not make for the nicest meal… After some digging, however, we discovered chia seed pudding!
But before adding the recipe, lets have a look at all these benefits :
1. Highly nutritious
Despite their tiny size, chia seeds are highly nutritious. They’re packed with fibre, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and various micronutrients.
2. Loaded with antioxidants
Chia seeds are a source of antioxidants.
Antioxidants benefit human health by neutralizing reactive molecules known as free radicals, which can damage cellular compounds if they build up in the body.
3. May support weight loss or maintenance
The fibre and protein in chia seeds may benefit those trying to lose weight or maintain a moderate weight.
4. May lower your risk of heart disease
Given that chia seeds are high in fibre and omega-3s, consuming them may reduce your risk of heart disease.
5. May support bone health
Chia seeds provide a source of several nutrients that are important for bone health:
• calcium
• phosphorus
• magnesium
In addition, ALA in chia seeds may play a role in bone health. Consuming this nutrient could be associated with increased bone mineral density.
A 2018 animal study found that rats who received chia seeds daily for about 13 months had increased bone mineral content compared with a control group. The authors concluded that ALA may have contributed to this benefit
