Recovery is part of performance.

Winter in South Africa isn’t just about staying warm.

It’s rugby on muddy fields where players come off looking like they’ve been personally introduced to the earth.

It’s hockey under crisp blue skies where every sprint feels just a little heavier.

Netball courts buzzing with energy.

Trail runs through frosty mornings where your body takes longer to “wake up” than your alarm clock did.

And cyclists questioning all their life choices at 6am in the cold.

Winter sports place unique demands on the body, especially with cooler temperatures affecting muscle readiness, mobility, and recovery times. Training feels tougher. Bodies feel stiffer. And the workload doesn’t magically get lighter just because the weather does.

And then… there’s football season kicking off alongside global tournaments — meaning bodies are working overtime both on and off the pitch.

That’s where MTASA steps in.

Supporting bodies in winter sport isn’t just about what happens during competition — it’s about how you prepare, recover, and stay in the game throughout the season.

Therapeutic massage supports athletes through:
• Muscle recovery and reduced post-exertion tension
• Mobility and movement quality
• Load management across busy training schedules
• Overall wellbeing during demanding winter seasons

Because whether it’s a local league match, school sport, or international football fever — your body doesn’t get a half-time break from recovery.

Stay warm. Stay moving. Stay game-ready. 💪💪💪

Migraine Management: Where Does Therapeutic Massage Fit?

Migraine is a complex neurological condition that often involves far more than head pain alone. Many people living with migraine also experience neck tension, shoulder tightness, stress overload, sleep disruption, and heightened sensitivity within the nervous system.

As part of a multidisciplinary healthcare approach, therapeutic massage can provide valuable support by addressing some of these contributing factors.

Massage therapy may help to:
• Reduce neck and shoulder muscle tension
• Support healthy fascial mobility and tissue function
• Promote relaxation and nervous system regulation
• Improve sleep quality
• Reduce stress-related physical tension
• Enhance overall wellbeing and quality of life

Many migraine sufferers recognise that tension accumulates in the body before or between episodes. By working with the musculoskeletal and fascial systems, therapeutic massage can become an important component of ongoing migraine management.

The best outcomes are often achieved when healthcare professionals work together. Collaboration between therapeutic massage therapists, GPs, chiropractors, physiotherapists, neurologists, and other healthcare providers allows clients to receive comprehensive, person-centred care.

Migraine management is rarely about a single intervention. It is about understanding the individual, addressing contributing factors, and supporting the body and nervous system as part of a broader treatment plan.

Therapeutic massage has an important role to play in that journey.

✨ Meet Lungelo ✨

We’re so honoured to welcome Lungelo Mbatha to the Uluru Wellness team.

Lungelo is a deeply passionate Therapeutic Massage Therapist with 11 years of experience in the wellness industry. She holds both a National Diploma in Therapeutic Massage Therapy and a National Diploma in Somatology — bringing together clinical knowledge, skilled hands, and a deeply compassionate approach to care.

Her journey into massage therapy began from a very personal place. Inspired by her late mother’s journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Lungelo experienced firsthand the profound difference therapeutic touch can make in someone’s quality of life. Through regularly working with her mother, she witnessed how massage brought comfort, relief, connection, and moments of peace during difficult times.

That experience became the foundation of her calling.

Today, Lungelo’s work is rooted in helping others feel supported, restored, and more at home in their bodies. Her treatments are intentional, calming, and guided by genuine care for the wellbeing of each person she works with.

We’re so excited for you to experience her warmth, knowledge, and healing touch at Uluru Wellness 🤍

📩 Book your session online or send us a message to learn more. She will be with us on Sundays and a variety of weekdays too.

When stress is ongoing, the body can remain in a heightened state of alert — even when there is no immediate danger.

Muscles stay tense, breathing becomes shallow, and the nervous system struggles to fully switch into rest and recovery.

Therapeutic massage doesn’t “fix” the sources of stress in your life. Instead, it helps the body respond to stress differently by supporting nervous system regulation, reducing protective muscle guarding, and creating conditions where the body can recognise safety again.

When the body shifts out of constant “fight or flight”, it uses energy more efficiently.

This can support better sleep, reduced physical tension, improved comfort, and a greater sense of ease — especially when massage is part of broader self-care and regulated healthcare support.

This is not indulgence.
It’s healthcare-informed support for a body under pressure.

If your body is stuck in “on” mode, regulated therapeutic support may help — because being In Safe Hands matters.

✨ Meet Tamzen ✨

Tamzen is the founder of Uluru Wellness —
and has spent over two decades walking alongside people on their healing journeys.

Her work is rooted in a deep respect for the body —
and a belief that, when given the right support, it already knows how to find its way back to balance.

Through therapeutic massage, she works gently with the nervous system, creating a sense of safety where healing can begin.

🌿 Tamzen has a special interest in:

• Chronic pain
• Lymphatic support
• Women’s health

She is especially drawn to the space where the lymphatic system, fascia, and nervous system meet —
where subtle, thoughtful work can create meaningful change.

She continues to deepen her practice through ongoing learning, including advanced training in abdominal massage.

But more than anything, she holds space —
for your body to soften, regulate, and reconnect.

✨ Not here to fix.
✨ Here to support.
✨ Here to guide your body home.

✨ Meet Oratile ✨

Born and raised in Mafikeng, Oratile’s journey into therapeutic massage began with something deeply personal — caring for her mother and grandmother.
It was here that her natural compassion and gentle healing touch first took shape.

After qualifying in 2020 and completing her practical hours with Uluru, Oratile developed a deep appreciation for how massage supports the nervous system and the body’s natural healing processes.

Now in her fourth year of practice, she continues to grow her knowledge in recovery, chronic pain, and whole-person care — always bringing a calm, intuitive presence to every session.

🌿 Oratile has a special love for lymphatic drainage and gentler approaches, supporting your body with care, patience, and precision.

Outside of the treatment room, she finds joy in the quiet things — reading, mindful cleaning, and peaceful walks.

✨ Warm. Gentle. Thoughtful care.
