Before your child’s first speech therapy session, there are a few things I wish more parents knew. 😊

• Speech therapy is not a quick fix.
It is a process, and progress often happens step by step.

• You do not need to have all the answers.
The first session is a starting point where we begin to understand your child’s needs, strengths and goals.

• Your role really matters.
Parents are such an important part of the therapy process, especially when it comes to carrying support into everyday routines at home.

• It works best as a team effort.
The child, parents, therapist and sometimes teachers all play an important role in helping the child feel supported.

My goal is not to overwhelm you, but to guide you through the process with clear communication, practical support and realistic expectations. 🤍

Those early years can come with so many little “should I be worried?” moments. ☺️

This carousel is a simple guide for parents of little ones between 0–3 years — not to create panic, but to help you feel more informed.

Milestones are not there to label your child. They are there to guide us, support early conversations and help parents know when to ask for help.

Save this post for when you need a quick reminder. 💙

One thing I really value in the therapy process is involving parents. 😊

Not because I expect you to become the therapist, but because you are such an important part of your child’s everyday communication world.

In our sessions, I can guide, support and work on specific goals — but at home is where so many little opportunities happen naturally: conversations, routines, play, schoolwork and everyday moments.

That’s why I believe in keeping parents informed, encouraged and part of the process. 🤍

When you understand what we’re working on and why it matters, it becomes easier to support your child in small, practical ways between sessions.

School may be taking a break, but communication is still happening all day. 😌

During the winter holidays, your child is still asking, listening, explaining, playing, choosing, negotiating and learning through the little moments at home.

And no, it does not have to look like schoolwork. 🤭
This carousel is simply a reminder that speech and language growth can be supported in playful, everyday ways — even on the cold, indoors kind of days.

When reading and spelling become a daily challenge, it can leave both children and parents feeling discouraged. 🫶

Sometimes these difficulties only become clear once school demands increase — longer instructions, more written work, reading aloud, spelling tests, comprehension activities…

And while it may look like your child is “just battling with reading,” there can sometimes be underlying language skills that need support.

The good news? It’s not too late to ask for guidance. 🤍
Speech-language therapy can help identify where the breakdown is happening and support your child with the skills they need to communicate, learn and feel more confident at school.

Good news, mamma… You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect activity plan to support your child’s language development. 😅

Sometimes, the best little learning moments are already hiding in the ordinary parts of your day.

They all count 🤍

Here are a few of my favourite “small things” that make a big difference… (you might already be doing some of them 😉).

• Talking through your day
• Repeating words
• Naming things as you go
• Letting your child take the lead in play

It might not feel like much in the moment, but these everyday interactions support your child’s speech and language development more than you might think. 😊

So if you’re already doing some of these… keep it up! 🤍

We will be looking at some of these in depth in the following weeks, so keep an eye out.

Screen time is one of those parenting topics that comes up again and again, and for good reason.

There’s a big difference between keeping little ones busy and supporting their development.

That’s why screen time is worth looking at more closely, not just in terms of how much, but what it may be replacing along the way. 💙

You think they’re playing… but there’s actually a lot happening in those little moments.😉

So if it feels like you’re “just playing” all day, you’re doing more than you think. 🤍
