Your thyroid is a small gland in the front of your neck that helps control your energy, metabolism, heart rate, and overall body function.

A 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗲 is an enlarged thyroid gland that may appear as a swelling or lump in the neck. It can be caused by thyroid hormone imbalance, nodules, inflammation, or in rare cases, thyroid cancer.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
✔ Neck swelling or lump

𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗦 – 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄

Diverticulitis is a common condition that affects the large intestine (colon). It happens when small pouches in the bowel wall become inflamed or infected.

⚠️ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
• Ongoing abdominal pain (usually on the lower left side)
• Fever
• Nausea or vomiting
• Bloating
• Changes in bowel habits (constipation or diarrhea)

👥 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸?
• Adults over 40
• Low-fiber diet
• Lack of regular exercise
• Obesity
• Smoking

🚨 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽:
If you have severe abdominal pain, fever, or symptoms that are not improving, it’s important to consult a doctor early.

• Mild cases can often be treated at home with medication and dietary changes
• More serious cases may need hospital treatment with IV antibiotics

Colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or re**um) is one of the most common cancers worldwide — but it is also one of the most preventable and treatable conditions when detected early.

👨‍⚕️ 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱?
✔️ Average risk adults: Start screening at 45 years
✔️ Higher risk individuals: Start earlier if you have:
• Family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
• Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis)
• Genetic syndromes (e.g. Lynch syndrome, Familial adenomatous polyposis)

🩺 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀?
Most colorectal cancers develop from small growths called polyps.
Screening can detect and remove polyps before they turn into cancer.

⚠️ 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀. 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲:
• Blood in the stool
• Change in bowel habits
• Unexplained weight loss
• Persistent abdominal discomfort
• Iron-deficiency anaemia

𝗨𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 – 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄

An umbilical hernia occurs when part of the intestine or fatty tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal wall near the belly button (umbilicus). It may appear as a soft swelling or bulge around the belly button.

In adults, umbilical hernias typically do not resolve without surgical repair.
In children, surgical repair is usually indicated for large defects (≥2cm) or if it persists after the age of 4-5 years old.

⚠️ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
• A visible bulge at the belly button
• Discomfort or pain, especially when coughing / sneezing
• A feeling of pressure in the abdomen

🚨 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁?
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
• Severe pain
• Redness or tenderness over the swelling
• Nausea or vomiting

These may be signs of a strangulated or incarcerated hernia, which requires urgent surgery.

🏥 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
The only definitive treatment for an umbilical hernia is surgical repair. Early repair helps prevent complications.

Appendicitis is one of the most common surgical emergencies — and it can happen to 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. It usually starts as pain around the umbilicus (belly button) that shifts to the right lower abdomen. You may also notice nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and fever.

⏰ Why acting early matters:
If untreated, an inflamed appendix can burst and cause a serious infection in the abdomen. Early diagnosis and surgery lead to faster recovery and fewer complications.

🔍 When to seek urgent medical help:
