Physiotherapy Unit Promotes Ergonomics in the Workplace

The Physiotherapy Unit at Brits District Hospital conducted an ergonomics awareness session for hospital staff, focusing on the importance of maintaining proper posture and using correct body mechanics while performing daily work activities.

The session provided staff with practical guidance on how to prevent work-related musculoskeletal injuries by adopting safe and comfortable working positions. Staff were also educated on the correct techniques for lifting, carrying, sitting and standing, as well as the importance of adjusting their workstations to suit their individual needs.

The initiative forms part of the hospital's commitment to promoting employee health and wellness. Through ongoing education on workplace ergonomics, the Physiotherapy Unit encourages staff to take proactive steps to protect their physical health, reduce the risk of workplace injuries and maintain a healthy and productive working environment.

Brits District Hospital Staff Weight Loss Challenge Promotes Healthy Living

The Dietetics and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Unit at Brits District Hospital have initiated a Staff Weight Loss Challenge starting from 20th of July - 16th October 2026 aimed at encouraging employees to adopt healthier lifestyles and promote physical well-being in the workplace.

As part of the challenge, participating staff members take part in a morning walk every Wednesday & Friday at 7H30 following a designated trail mapped out by the Dietetics Unit. The Wednesday programme also includes an aerobics session from 14H30 to 16H:00 providing staff with an opportunity to stay active, improve their fitness levels and support one another.

Through this initiative, the Dietetics and OHS Unit encourage staff to make healthy lifestyle choices, remain physically active and work together towards achieving their weight loss and wellness goals.

⚠️ Warning‼️ Health regulators warn against the use or dispensing of recalled Semaglutide and Tirzepatide

SAHPRA, together with Health Professions Council of South Africa - and South African Pharmacy Council - , warns healthcare professionals and the public not to use, prescribe, dispense or retain recalled Semaglutide and Tirzepatide products.

The continued use of these recalled products poses a serious risk to patient safety. Healthcare professionals found to be prescribing, dispensing or retaining stock of these products may face regulatory and disciplinary action.

Mandela Day Orthopaedic Marathon at Brits District Hospital By Theatre Unit

In celebration of Mandela Day, Brits District Hospital hosted an Orthopaedic Marathon aimed at improving the quality of life of patients requiring joint replacement surgery. The dedicated orthopaedic team worked tirelessly from 08:00 to 17:00 to provide much-needed surgical care to patients.

During the marathon, the team successfully completed eight major orthopaedic procedures, including hip and knee arthroplasties. This achievement is a testament to the commitment, dedication and teamwork of the healthcare professionals who came together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.

The Mandela Day Orthopaedic Marathon embodies the spirit of "It is in your hands to make a difference." It is alleged that he is from House No. E20050, Extension 12, Krugersdorp. It is further reported that his home is located opposite the area where the Ke Nako drama was filmed. His mother is believed to be Irene, and his sister is believed to be Lerato.
